In my ongoing series of flight sim hardware polls, please let us know in your opinion/experience, what throttle holds the best value (best bang for your buck) for playing IL-2 GB?

Saitek/Logitech X56 HOTAS here - future investments will be definitely VIRPIL and also some Authetikit devices.

I will have Vitaly of GVL build my dream dual throttle soon if everything calms down in the Ukraine situation. I am praying for a Peaceful resolution to the current crisis. Vitaly built a Trim Console for me that is absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait to have him begin production of my throttle design. Hopefully I will be able to place my order within the month if the situation calms down.

Left-handed VKB Gladiator NXT, with the Y axes spring removed. Smooth as silk. All the buttons you need.

I have, and am very happy with the Virpil Mongoose MT-50CM (v3 of their first edition, not the MT-50CM3).

I have a twcs

But what I want is a thing that has everything clicking like a mouse wheel
In fact and board with ten ratcheted mouse wheels would be great

I use the Thrustmaster warthog throttles since several years now. Back then I had to buy the whole set and sold the stick right away, so I don't know how much bang for the buck that is. I really like them, and I like the degree of customization. My alpha grip + VIRPIL TC50 stick doesn't come close in that regard.

There's only one thing I don't like: windows sometimes looses connection to the throttles. I thought it had to do with windows energy settings powering off the USB port, but I could never really confirm that. The frequency appears to change with OS build and update status. When that happens, though, it's annoying as hell, since it affects a ton of critical functions, like zooming views, firing weapons, engine, prop and gear control, and several more. Any pointer towards a fix would be appreciated.

I looked at all throttles, and settled on the Thrustmaster TCA (Airbus) to go along with my VKB Gladiator stick.

I'd just built a computer, bought the new stick, and really needed a good value. With all of the buttons on the VKB stick, I'm rarely

wishing I had another button on the throttle, even with DCS jets. In fact even with DCS I don't need all of the buttons on my stick.

If I had the option to be even more spendy at the time I might have chosen something else, but I have no complaints about this throttle.

Not the fanciest, but a good bank for the buck...it's also particularly nice for WWII birds as it more closely resembles a throttle from that era.

@JG27_PapaFly I was having intermittent stick disconnect issues...was driving me nuts. Sometimes it wouldn't happen at all, other times it would

happen every 30 seconds. Finally figured out it was my cordless mouse. If it's sitting too close to the stick, the stick disconnects. Worth a look.

Oh and during my entire 1946 time, and all through RoF, and into BoS I simply used the lever on my old Siatek Cyborg stick.

I didn't have an actual throttle quadrant until last year when I picked up DCS.

My WINWING Orion should arrive today.

I was using the Logitech X55 Rhino which is an absolute piece of crap. I lost use of half the buttons and axes and only 1 throttle registers. The friction mechanism ends up cutting half the wires inside....total garbage.

Yo Gambit,
thanks for the tip! I moved the mouse dongle to the USB port that's farthest away from the throttles. So far no disco ? ?

For me it was my actual mouse sitting next to the throttle - but fingers crossed you’ve solved it. :)
