Flying the IL-2 Sturmovik (1943) : Adjusting RPM?

How does one adjust RPM in this aircraft?

According to what I’ve read, the pilot sets an RPM governor and the pitch of aircraft’s blades are adjusted to keep RPM constant.

Can someone advise me if I’ve got this right and, if I have, how to do it?

Thanks.

YOu can assign an axis or keys in the controls settings menu. Make sure you don't have automatic engine controls activated in the realism settings.

Yeah for allied planes you need to set the revs. The aircraft will adjust the prop pitch to maintain the revs even if you change the MP with the throttle.

For the IL2 I usually keep the engine at 1950/2000 rpms once airborne. 50% mixture. If you need boost power go to max revs and 100% mixture.

Also, be mindful of your radiators, both require manual adjustements.

During a strafing run, close the oil rad as shutters are armored.

Many thanks, 40plus and 1./JG52_Woutwocampe.

I've found the RPM increase/decrease keys/axis and I can now increase/decrease the RPM governor whilst flying.

@MungeeDont forget to adjust mixture and radiators too, if needed.
