Quick summary of where I'm at,

5950x, RX6800, X570, 32GB (3600), 4TB Samsung 970 EVO+'s, Baur BRD-N with KG13A, Kanttorin Kone console, MFG V2's with damper mod. Oculus Rift S.

I have the need for more something more. I picked up the Rift S towards the middle of last year I think at a good new price of €299 to replace a CV1 that I had. I'm perfectly happy to date with performance & quality, getting strong 80fps in heavy maps.

Sooo, let's say I have about €1K burning a hole in my pocket? What would you do?

I'm thinking HP Reverb G2 @ about €500 + Simshaker Jetpad + associated software @ about €300 shipped and a Buttkicker Gamer 2 coming in at just over €1K - make sense or am I making a complete howler?

Couple of addendums:

I realise that an Nvidia 3080 / 90 works better for IL2 & VR but I'm not prepared for the hassle of a: finding one for less than 1K or b: paying over €1200 for a GPU :)

I also realise that the next big thing in VR is the Varjo Aero and you need Nvidia for that. AMD support not available as of yet and luckily it's €2000 :P

Soooo, any other suggestions for greater immersion?

I would go first for the Simshaker+JetPad, it contributes to the immersion.

Regarding the G2, I am not fully sure how it will perform with the RX6800 in IL-2 VR. The RX6800 with the G2 performs well in other games, but AMD cards has a issue with IL-2 VR. But upgrading to a 3080 is over 1K€.

The RX6800 could still performs well with the RiftS because the resolution is not comparable to the G2.

Perhaps a good headphones (perhaps you already have them).

I have a set of Focal Chorus speakers hanging off the PC for when i'm allowed to make noise, or a pair of AKG N60NC headphones. Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it.

I think I'll still give the G2's a try, they're coming down in price now and I can always offload easily enough.

You could sell your card via Ebay at the highest price possible and try to find an Nvidia at the lowest price possible.

True, but I'd still have a €500 shortfall minimum to make up. I'll wait till nexgen and upgrade then :)

This would be my vote too for a next step regarding immersion, not quite as much as moving to VR, but still a real game changer for me.  @Andre has done amazing work that I couldn't fly without after experiencing it.  My current setup uses his software with his Jetseat and 2 additional Buttkickers for a little added push (one under the chair and one under the control stand).  All of this would be well within your budget.

Also my plan to replace my 2080TI, hopefully a 4080 in the plan for late this year.

Varibraun: I’m expecting my second ButtKicker this weekend. I want to run them in stereo (left side, right side). What is the best way to connect the two amps to get this effect?

Unfortunately, I don't have mine running in stereo so I can't answer.  My Buttkickers are both just running on a USB soundcard.  The one under the chair just adds a little more vibration to augment the Jetseat (and I have some different Simsharker effects set also between those - Like G-Forces is only on the Jetseat so I feel that only in my back vs. full vibration everywhere, which helps me differential high Gs from a stall) and the other Buttkicker is under my control stand (which gives some good feedback in my rudder pedals, throttle & joystick).

Sorry that I can't be more helpful on the stereo setup...

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like an interesting setup.

Jetpad on order :) - I've opened a bug request with AMD on the poor performance of Navi 21 with IL2.

That issue was also reported exactly one year ago to the technical&bugs section:

JetPad arrived today, successfully avoiding the wife radar and aaa :) 5 days to do over 4,500KM, stopping off in Moscow, Leipzig and Shannon before ending up in Cork. Build looks tough and durable but will need to reorganise a bit to access power, sound and USB. I also got a license for Simshaker for Wings and have to compliment both Andre & Sergio for exceptional service and turnaround times. Too often we complain about poor service but on the flip side we should also applaud good service.

My wife unexpectedly arrived up into my lair in the attic (office / gaming space) - "What's that cover on your chair? Why are there cables coming from it? What's it do?"

It's a seat massager - "show me!" I've been looking for one of these... F....
