Very had to do from the rear (for me), but in a frontal pass, I surprised a FW190 with my typhoon twice now. I wasn't sure it was doable, but let me confirm it is, and quite fun too !!! Wish I had video but it's a blink of an eye thing in a head to head pass.. Man this sim is fun ! 1

Hahaha. I remember those. Everyone tried those in the old Il-2. most didn't hit anything, but we all tried them. The cluster bombs and the rockets from Zeke were fun in AA.

In the old sim I once killed a 109 by firing rockets from my I16. BOOOOM!!! Then the guy has the nerve to get indignant because I "cheated" by using rockets on him. As if getting an air to air rocket kill while in a swirling dogfight is an easy thing to do...idiot. 1

Monksilver Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Yesterday while doing a mission on Ice Ring I was attacking a Ju52 from the side with my IL2, as I got close I launched a rocket and got a hit on the rear blowing off both of it's stabilisers. Quite satisfying when you pull it off. 1

Danziger Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 A good two minutes of fun is setting up a qmb in the D9 against a bunch of B25s. When they are all in their nice straight line formation, you can come right up behind and take them all down pretty quick with rockets.

Loaded with the wing gun, rear gunner and rockets the idea is to be the last one in the air....get shot down, become a gunner. The sound of the rockets wooshing by your ears is brilliant....a hit by one usually takes off a wing or your control surfaces. I thought about unlimited ammo but there is no point, no-one is in the air long enough to warrant it 1 2
