when i installed 4.602b the total downloaded files was 60 gigs..... started the 4.702 install and its 29.5 gb

heres a good idea

break it into sections

at teh least keep each update its own file.  ie if your on 4.5 and updates 4.6 and 4.7 have come out,  start updates with 4.6 and then if user wants they can go on to get 4.7

That makes no sense at all. The game won't run unless you are patched up to the latest version.

Thats not how build design works...you build everything to work together, segementing it only ensures incompatiblity

nothing wrong with segmenting, and having 26 gb in "update patches" isnt useful to the community.

Besides the only thing that depends upon the patches is ONLINE PLAY.....   big deal, who cares about that crap anyway.

And if everything was working correctly, and designed to be compatible... we wuldnt HAVE a techinical issues/support section.

Doesn't 4.6, like, usually come before 4.7? I think? :scratch_one-s_head:

Ah i missed the lack of reading comprehension, doubt it comes from language barrier.

No, the thingy is, if im happily running 4.602b  and for some reason have been forced to update,  please choose your favorite reason from the list

1. Accidentally hit the launcher icon

2. want to get another part of the game, that needs updates to have

3. WIndows update made things work funny, Driver update only helped so much so am being forced to update the game files itself

I should NOT have to do a 26 GB download to the newest version, i should have the choice to just go to the next number after my currently installed one.

And to raise another point, I really wish that the ONLINE crap was left in a SEPERATE download all together. SO if we DONT want to have that clogging the hard drive, or suckign up bandwidth we can choose to get rid of it.

I agree with @pocketshaver that it would be nice if the game asked me before downloading a new version, and before doing changes to my installation. There's a number of different levels of user comfort I can think of, with increasing cost of implementation:

  • Let user decide when to upgrade to latest version, let user play off-line with currently installed version
  • Let user pick which version to up/downgrade to, let user play off-line with any installed version
  • Same as above, but also support online play

Then there's also the ability to not download content the user has not bought, which is how things usually work.

Its curious as to why, ive been playing offline, havent actually been online with the game since the GOLD plane statue in the hanger , but have had the christmas tree in the hanger for this years christmas since christmas day.

I can’t see a logical reason for not keeping the game updated. In addition to new content the updates contain bug fixes etc. If players stopped regular updates 1CGS would just get flooded with redundant bug reports.
