TheHighwayman Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 IL2 is crashing after several minutes in VR. I used to play it just fine, but after wiping Windows and reinstalling everything, including IL2, it now crashes when I run it. I am able to fly for a few minutes before it crashes, usually with a screen freeze. The sounds play, but the screen is locked and I have to end the application manually. ------------------ System Information ------------------ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19041) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: CyberPowerPC System Model: C SERIES BIOS: P1.00 (type: UEFI) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz (12 CPUs), ~3.7GHz Memory: 32768MB RAM Available OS Memory: 32438MB RAM Page File: 7840MB used, 277462MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 12 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) System DPI Setting: 144 DPI (150 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: UnKnown Miracast: Available, with HDCP Microsoft Graphics Hybrid: Not Supported DirectX Database Version: 1.0.8 DxDiag Version: 10.00.19041.0928 64bit Unicode
J2_Bidu Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 (edited) Forget the suggestion below - this would apply to a full system freeze, not one application freezing. If it started immediately after the software changed then you may try other approaches first, but freezes like that may be caused by faulty (or slightly out of place) memory sticks. If in doubt, remove one stick at a time, testing each time to see if the problem still happens without it. Edited January 2, 2022 by J2_Bidu Correction does not apply
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Which VR goggles? Smart smoothing on/off? My game crashes with foveated rendering on(on pimax driver level, or openvr_foveated, booth do not work with il-2)
TheHighwayman Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 Thanks, I'll try these and report back.
Sudders Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 What resolution are you running at? The 1080TI seems a bit underpowered to run a G2 on IL2 if I'm being honest - I have a 3080 with a lower resolution Oculus Rift S, and even that thing starts screaming at times! I'm wondering whether your GPU memory is tapping out. Have you ran any sensors to check how hot its getting during play?
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 @TheHighwayman did you solve it? I remmember some guys had to disable gpu hardware scheduling, try google it.
