What is the use and how do you set it up; the blue areas in the ME:

Is that set via an Icon translator set to 0 0 0 RGB, none ID enabled and border? 1977905908__BLUE2.thumb.jpg.d5bd355e2fe6d60aefbe08cd9f89e273.jpg

Salute @jollyjack

No, the blue area is set by using the "Translator: Influence Area" MCU.

You add it to the map and then stretch it out to area you want it to cover and also set the allegiance.

I have only seen it when I was working with Syn_Vander when I created the Lapino map.

I believe it controls if a pilot is captured etc if they land behind enemy lines.

I have just added one to a map I am working on. It defaults to a triangle area but I am unsure how you stretch it out?

Can anyone else chip in that knows?

Correct.

Right-mouse -> Selected Object Menu -> Edit Influence Area Boundary. Use the arrow keys to select a node, then left-mouse to drag it, or Ctrl-left-mouse to add a point.

So my guess is that it's meant for multiplayer. If you hit the soil you're automatically captured? And by who?

No, it's also used in the career and I plan to use it in my upcoming P-47 campaign. If you bail out or land in an area controlled by the enemy, you're captured, even if your mission is "complete", and in a career or campaign, you won't be able to progress to the next mission. If you bail out or land in an area controlled by your own side, nothing happens and you can proceed to the next mission as usual.

So we need a (French) resistance MCU truck with an option to rescue these fellers besides blowing up railways for good ... or some reconnaissance plane to free them.

The Influence Area is required in Flying Circus or the factions do not work. The area in between the zones is neutral (no man’s land). It is not required in any of the other modules, but I would imagine it will still be used in Flying Circus II.
