DBFlyguy Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 This is a special kind of idiot... I hope the FAA pulls his ticket and he gets jail time. ? 1 2 1 2

Lusekofte Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 I am no pilot, but as I see it he handled it like he had panic. But still was calm enough to film the whole thing. No radiocommunication no attempts to start the engine. Just engine stop, then bail out. So I agree, it look like planned. But what is the gain?
jollyjack Posted December 25, 2021 Posted December 25, 2021 April fools, it's a MS flightsim scene ..
Monostripezebra Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 That looks fishy... And lots of people with questions

That is enough of a red flag. The plane was N29508, and really was destroyed.. but there are a lot of doubts on wether it was a genuine accident or a deliberate stunt for fame and social media clicks. AV Web reports the FAA is looking at the case. Edited January 2, 2022 by Monostripezebra 1
Bremspropeller Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Next time this dude is jumping from an airplane, he needs to make sure he's doing it argentinian-style.
Charlo-VR Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Just like the video commenter, I am surprised that pilot would wear a sport jumping skydiving rig rather than a pilot’s emergency parachute rig, to sit much more comfortably in such a small cockpit. Of course, a pilot’s emergency rig only has one canopy. Good anticipation on his part to wear his sport jumping rig. Also, before hiking from an off-field landing like that, an experienced skydiver would pack his or her parachute to protect it from UV light and snagging on branches, etc., and to carry it out much more easily (if they are carrying out their rig at all - it would depend upon the anticipated length of the hike to safety. A sport rig with a main and reserve canopy weighs about 25 lbs.) If I was genuinely concerned about making it to safety, I’d disconnect my main canopy from my rig, stash my rig in the shade and off the ground someplace I could find it later, and use the main as sun protection and to be clearly visible by rescuers (my main is colored like Ernst Udet’s Fokker DVII, so would be easily visible). 1
Jaws2002 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 (edited) Morons will do everything for clicks this days. He was flying really high, so he could have turned around and found a spot to land the plane. in an emergency first thing pilots do is look for a place to put it down, while attempting to restart the engine and calling an emergency. He just wanted to jump. FAA should throw the book at this scumbag. Edited January 3, 2022 by Jaws2002
J2_Trupobaw Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 @Monostripezebra used to do it every month...
Monostripezebra Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) As someone on reddit pointed out.. he even tried to sneak out the fire extinguisher unter his trousers in case of impact fire.. How dumb can you be.. thinking in that case some 6 gallons of fuel on dry brush would be fightable with that tiny kitchen appliance.. Edited January 13, 2022 by Monostripezebra
Feathered_IV Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Has he been identified yet? I’m wondering if the authorities are looking for him at this stage.

J2_Bidu Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 How did he get the footage from the wing cam after he jumped?
Monostripezebra Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 1 hour ago, J2_Bidu said: How did he get the footage from the wing cam after he jumped? Well, from his video it becomes clear he skydived as much as he could to stay close to the plane and pulled the chute quite late and instead of chosing a safe landing site, he went down in the brush relatively close, made his way to the plane, fillmed all this way with exaggerations of survival challenges and then took the cameras from the plane under the pretext of looking for his waterbottle or so.. 1
Avimimus Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Yeah, but taking the cameras from the plane under the pretext of looking for waterbottles doesn't make any sense if you include the footage from those cameras in your video, right?

TheBlackPenguin Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 It will be awhile before charges are set, at a minimum I would expect his license to be pulled. He could also get into even deeper trouble, including potential jail time, if he crashed that plane in a National Forest.
LLv34_Flanker Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 S! Idiocy is an in infinite supply. 2
IckyATLAS Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 I do not know if it is true, fake, staged stunt or whatever. Everything can be faked, sound, images, videos to a point that we cannot make the difference. But if it is a true then as a pilot let me tell you: this guy is not a pilot. He is a disgrace for the pilot community. Shame on him. 2 1
BornToBattle Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Wish I had that kind of money to throw around. ”I’m bored. Think I’ll strap multiple cams on, go fire up my plane, then jump out while it crashes.” Just…wow… 1
Ace_Pilto Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Idiot, the footage would have got more views if he'd stayed in it. 5 3
Lusekofte Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 His licence is no revoked https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/20/us/trevor-jacob-youtube-plane-crash.html

1CGS LukeFF Posted May 14, 2023 1CGS Posted May 14, 2023 And now he's facing 20 years in the clink: https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/santa-barbara-county-man-who-deliberately-crashed-airplane-youtube-video-admits Quote Jacob drove the wreckage to Lompoc City Airport and unloaded it in a hangar. He then cut up and destroyed the airplane wreckage and, over the course of a few days, deposited the detached parts of the wrecked airplane into trash bins at the airport and elsewhere, which he admitted in his plea agreement was done with the intent to obstruct federal authorities from investigating the November 24 plane crash.
