Hi ladies and gents,

this question is more oriented towards developers. Is there any chance to see the Spitfire Mk XIVe with the tear drop canopy in IL-2 Great Battles?

Just a question...

Thanks for your answer

Doubt it.

Unless they add it as a modification but I don't think that's ever occured before?

We have the Spitfire Mark XIVc and XIVe in IL-2 Great Battles. The letters refer to the type of wing used and the armament that is fitted in that wing. The bubble canopy is not associated with the 'e' designation. So far as I know, there is no designation for bubble canopies.

And as for the bubble canopy, I don't think we're going to see it. With most of its usage happening in April and May of 1945 there were extremely few that saw service in this configuration. It also wouldn't be an easy update as you'd need to change the cockpit geometry at the back completely, change the exterior 3D geometry, redo the textures, and at least partially redo the flight model.

As someone who's generally not a fan of British aircraft aesthetics, I do like the bubble canopy Spits.

It's a shame we probably won't see one since its too similar to the variant we have. I believe Jason said the same thing during his Birthday Q&A earlier this year.

As @ShamrockOneFive said, not much service by the low-back XIVs in Europe before the war's end. If we ever send up in the Pacific, it's a good option there, as that's where most of the low-back / clipped wing XIVs went.
