Was just wondering if anyone has played TC using VR on a daily basis?

Posted (edited)

I just setup my trackIR for tank crew (involved me running steam as admin was all) and leaning is fine. But I still have to use keys to actually change views and open slits right? Leaning only seems to go so far when I am in the commanders cupola for instance, is there a way I wonder to setup the controls so that their is a transition to the closer view?

VR though means you can open things with your hands like you are pushing them?

P.S. I know of somebody who has used VR in il2 tank crew and will ask him.

You can lean in every position, but onfortunately if you want to move your head and lean to any direction as gunner, you first have to go out of gunsight and leave the control of the gun, which will make the turret turn to twelve o'clock and the gun being lashed in driving position.

Looking through the gunsight as gunner only works with a key.

One thing, I didn't find, is a way to look through the periscope at the rear of the Ferdinand, which I can move out, when I am in commanders position, so I would have the possibility to look out of the tank, without being unbuttoned.

When I lean into positions with the trackIR it does not "ZOOM" to the window. Which is a shame. Because it means they are not as usable as they should be. Because I cannot see as well as I can when using the keys to lock my view position to them. Perhaps I have some work to do from my side.

Yep, also you can't just lean to the gunsight to use it, you need to press the key for toggle gunsight view.

Well yes and no. I use VR while in single player. And Track IR in multiplayer, so I can see map etc a bit better.

Thanks for information everyone, will fire it up again and have a look for myself.  Sounds like in a critical online mode......it's best to be non VR, but I'll have another look at it.

Salute,

No, Tank Crew does not have clickable cockpits. Everything has to be bound to a key.

I finally got around binding everything TC related to my hotas so that I can play in VR. What do you want to know about the experience?

I did us VR with TC but found it sickening over time especially over cross country with the Tank rocking up and down. I just use Trackir for TC and VR for flying

Same with @ACG_Jackman. In TC, VR looks really cool looking around the tank’s internal environment. But I get motion sickness with gunnery as the gunsight and head movement are not connected. You have to move the sight by mouse to follow your head movement.
I don’t now if I’m missing something, but if there’s a workaround to remedy this I’d like to know, please.

What? noo, your view does follow the crosshair maybe youre forgetting the "lean to gunsight" command?

Is it the LShift T, nestle to gunsight? I do that. I guess it does follow, although kind of jittery. But what I meant was, I can turn my head beyond the circular gunsight until only the black field is visible. And that causes me to get dizzy.

I believe it's Left Shift T to see through the gun sight.

Ah, yes. That’s what I meant. Edited, thank you.

Still, the result is how I described.

Ahh i get what your are saying now yeaah you can move your head outside the "view Circle" the camera follows the middle position of your neck.

My main problem is with vibration in general. When driving they are too much for VR I wish there was a way to dampen them as it makes the game unplayable in VR for many. And the binoculars are simply unusable in VR, almost like no one tested them in VR before releasing the game.

Tank Crew in VR is truly an amazing experience, but the binoculars, OMG the binoculars!

It’s pretty cool in VR, but the head sway when you switch positions is nausiating and the gun sight view is rough.
