[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Brief description: If player has techchat disabled via game settings or server has techchat disabled (in both cases for added fidelity) there is NO RRR FUNCTION INFO available to the player. Not if airframe or tank is in the RRR zone, no repair info, no refuel info, no rearm info. Detailed description, conditions: If a player or a server disables techchat for added functionality, the player NO longer has access to any RRR FUNCTION INFO. The player can only guess if his airframe is in the REPAIR ZONE by taxiing very close to the yellow smoke. The player can only see the state of the REPAIR STATE by watching damage textures (which does not apply to fe "repairing cockpit" which takes a lot longer than the skin damages) The player has no information about the REARM STATE, except for the Mig-3 where there is a noticeable "clang". This is especially problematic in a Spitfire, where the "rearm bug" is still is unresolved since April 2021: The player has no information about the REFUEL STATE and can only guess when to stop fueling. This is a FUNCTIONAL and CONCEPTIONAL BUG. The RRR-Function is a basic game function. Its status message are not part of "techchat" (which is an assist or QoL leveling feature, not a game functionality). Thus it is a separate overlay message category, either by subcategory hardcoded push-message or by separate status-category. This is as much a bug beyond discussion as it would be if player had to enable techchat to have pitch control for airframe or left turn control for ground vehicles. WORKAROUND (temporary): No workaround possible. Temporarily enabling techchat via game settings is not feasible, this is a functional and conceptional bug. Additional assets (videos, screenshots, logs):NO TRACKFILE NEEDED - functional bug, not technical bug, reproducable on any OS, any system, any circumstances Your PC config data (OS, drivers, specific software): not bug-relevant or interdependent but dxdiag attached DxDiag.txt 1

JimTM Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) There may be a few other techchat icons that need to be displayed regardless of player or server settings. One that comes to mind is the indication of which engine is selected for multi-engine aircraft. Edited December 9, 2021 by JimTM 1

One that comes to mind is the indication of which engine is selected for multi-engine aircraft. Same goes for Ammunition state and selection in a TC Tank - as audiolines are not available to tell the magazine state by enquiry. So there is merit to properly solve this as it does not only apply to 3-4 infoboxes but across various basic gamefunctions, across both available playable asset categories (airframes and ground vehicles), across various modules - so basically across the entire franchise.
[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted January 11, 2022 Author Posted January 11, 2022 a small update to this topic: In some aircraft modules like the FW-190 a controlled refuel is possible as the passive fuel gauge reacts to the refuel process (showing the first/main tank up to the 300l indication) to some degree. While in itself a little off - the airframe is on the ground, resting on its tail and thus the readings despite the gauge's nature and probe wiring/piping for this particular airframe would be a little imprecise it is at least possible. But this does not apply to aircraft with active gauges or intermittent gauges (like fe a Spitfire Mk V - Mk XIV) - reinforcing the necessity to rectify this message state (to the level of fe an announcement message for map-events, just in a more suitable UI/Font/HUD fashion) and untie it from "TechChat" (at least on hard override push-through pop-up level by categorization). As stated before and above this does apply in the general to the Repair and Reload aspect in general way more than the Refuel - especially for ammuntion states and loaded munitions in ground vehicle assets.
