S!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here specialise or tinker with First World War aviation modelling? I have a cunning plan...

With very best wishes,

Very impressive, Feathered IV. Out of interest, do you specialise in various aircraft of the conflict as well as weathering, etc.? I ask as I am considering in publishing a new series of aviation modelling books.

Bullldog

Now that is impressive...

Some previous titles and will be announcing a Second World War modelling title in due course.

I make WW1 models too, although mine aren't as good (or small) as Feathered's.

They're great too. I want to propose a new series of modelling titles on First World War aircraft such as the Albie, Se5A, Camel, etc., on each particular model from start to finish, weathering, etc., as well as comparison on various makes (Airfix, etc.).

Do let me know if this is of interest. I see these as full colour, paperback and picture heavy.

That sounds exciting.  I tend to lean towards British aircraft the most and have been working in 1/144 scale.  I sort of specialise in scratch building if anything, as kits in that scale are often rare.

I love that Bristol book by the way.  I must put that on my list for santa :)

Thanks, Feathered. Here are more that we have published: https://www.fonthill.media/collections/ww-i-aviation

Could you tackle a British aircraft one at a time with a spec of, and this is all very out of the blue and organic, 100-150 pics (yours are fab) with a wordcount of 50-55,000 words? Just an idea that I had this morning. All books are sold and marketed locally and nationally all over the US and UK.

Hotwaffle's are also fab!:-)

Amazing work my friend.  Are you a brain surgeon?  With hands that steady, you should be. Lol.  Very immpressive.

It might well be possible.  For quicker turnaround, I documented the steps in the Fe2 and Pfalz projects and wrote them up as I went, so a lot of material is already to hand there.  I also made moulds of the major components of the Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa, so it would be possible to do additional ones in a range of schemes too.  For new projects I had been considering a BE.2D or E. However something like that does take a significant amount of time to produce from scratch.

Sounds great. Although I return to my desk on Tuesday, can you please be so kind as to PM me your e-mail address and that I can formally introduce myself?

Already been done/being done by Ray Rimmell of Albatros Productions. Ray has been the international leader in WWI modeling publications since the 1980's. WWI modeling is a VERY niche market, I know because I play at it.

I get a ton of giant matchstick comments.  That one is by far the best of the lot! :salute:

At first I thought you were modelling matchsticks and the WW1 birds were there just to get a sense of scale.

I wish you the best of luck. Not trying to be a Debbie-Downer, but a large part of the problem is/will be that you have guys like Feathered_IV that are willing to post their build threads online in forums such as https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/   for free. Why buy the cow when the milk is already free? I wish you nothing but success sir.

@Feathered_IV, beautiful work sir. I've been struggling to get to that level in 1/72nd for years.
