Would it be to much to ask if one or more of you MB expert could find a little time to give classes on Building a mission, a little at a time. Maybe use Discord for coms while providing instructions using IL2 mission builder to build a mission. You could post the needed items for the class ie: Gimp, downloads, dates and class length/time & dates etc.  I know my Group 10-15 would be interested. Thanks TC

Vapor has videos out there I used to get started. Then JimTM's gave me understanding and the experts here help with the more complex understanding of how things work.

All the classes you needed is right here in these forum.

I don't really do classes - but yeah, JimTM's Mission Editor Manual is a great place to start. If you start reading at the beginning and just go along with the chapters, it's practically a tutorial anyhow. If something is still unclear, you can always ask here :)

Also, generated missions (QMB, AQMB) are a good way to learn the basics (they're stored as [IL2 directory]\data\Missions\_gen.Mission after you've started the mission). Just start with a simple 1v1 Quick Mission, exit from IL2, open the editor, load _gen.Mission, and see how it works. Then move to 4v4 quick missions, and on to the AQMB to see how some of the more complex stuff (bombing runs, cover, etc.) is handled.

Also note that there are plenty of editor and server resources (including links to editor videos) under "Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Guides" in the
IL-2 Sturmovik Resources post.

I have found Sketch's posts in the mission builders forum particularly helpful. He is clear and concise in his presentations. Check out his YouTube page under Sketch5051.i too highly recommend JimTM's manual.  Prangster also has a good manual although limited in scope it too has clear visual presentations of how to link MCU's to each other and to objects.

The ME has a steep learning curve because it is so powerful. I have been using it for over a year and barely scratched the surface.

Ask questions. There are a lot of very smart people here to help you.

Hang in there. Your best tutor will be your own mistakes.

Yeah, despite my smart a$$ response above, I learned how to use the ME in this version of IL2 by lurking and reading on this forum, asking questions, and dissecting QMB missions so I could see how the devs put the logic together. I have been fortunate enough to get some good pointers from people who know how it's supposed to work so I try to pass that along whenever possible.

Teaching classes is a bit more than I would be able to do though, and no one would want to hear that anyway. I used to teach High School, so I have that on good authority, haha.
