RyanR Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 First off, the latest batch of updates is truly incredible. Simply having escort let's the Thunderbolt shine. I've been having some of the most fun yet with P-47's in career mode. Just the suspense with that giant radial engine is reminiscent of Wyler's Memphis Belle and Thunderbolt. Things I've noticed: For a while in the career, the P-47D-22 is locked out of the 150 octane fuel, but the D-28 has had it available for some time. All of a sudden, I've got an "escort bombers" mission. The D-28 now has access to the gyro gunsite (not my cuppa).... BUT it's locked out of 150 octane fuel. The D-22, on the other hand suddenly *does* have that lovely 150 octane available. Is there a glitch? Or is there a historical story that I don't know? Thanks! -Ryan

Thanks! -Ryan It seems like something might be amiss there. I'll check it out. Thanks! (150-grade fuel should not be available to either P-47).

I was able to have 150 as a mod on the D22 but I couldn’t select it for the wingmen for either variant if I remember correctly. So player only?

Not sure - I'm going to have a look and see. ---EDIT--- Ok, I know what the issue is. First off, a check of the master loadout file shows that everything is how it should be for both the D-22 and the D-28. I then ran a check of the various mission types, including Escort Bombers missions. There, the loadouts are correct as intended - extra .50 cal ammo for both, plus the mirror for the D-28, along with the external bomb racks that were always there on Ninth Air Force planes. The radio compass and 150-grade fuel options are also disabled, as they should be. What happens is that if you swap out one plane type for another, it unlocks certain aircraft mods that should not be unlocked. In other words, it's a bug. I'll make a new report about it in the testing forums. Thanks for reminding me about this! Edited November 12, 2021 by LukeFF 1

The first time I noticed the 150 being available, I was amazed to see that the jug was doing 350 on the deck. -Ryan

Airborne506 Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Loadout related I'm also doing a Jug career right now and I've noticed that I haven't had any missions with rockets at all - only 2 or 3 500 lbers, and I'm now at Jan 45 started Autumn 44. I can pick them and they're available but it hasn't been the default assignment at all and before the latest patch it would be for mostly train junction or arty strikes.

Most P-47 missions are now dive bombing, hence the lack of rockets. Adding rockets to vehicle convoy missions would probably be a good change to make, yes.
migmadmarine Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Ah well, welcome to the 9th Airforce son 1
RyanR Posted November 14, 2021 Author Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) Now that there's escort, the P-47 career is pretty fun. My only qualm (aside from your wingmen being like herding cats) is that the mission specs send you in at 5K feet. Way too low for the jug. I wrangle the squadron and climb to 10K. Get back up there when you come off target. I was having fun before I noticed that I could get the 150 juice. The 150 is soooo sweet. It would be nice if we could ignore a little historical accuracy. -Ryan Edited November 14, 2021 by RyanR
