Where are map structures (buildings, etc.) defined?

I get them from data\Templates

I have been told that PWCG is missing some ground objects like docks in Kuban and many things in FC.  I have looked at the templates directory and the only change in two years is railroads for Rheinland.  Is there another place that I should be pulling in structures from?

“templates” is the only place I know of.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but the issue is still present. Like @PatrickAWlson said, it's especially evident in FC missions (whole towns not being placed in the worst case) and in Kuban (sea-side structures).

According to the dates on my template files, they have not been updated for months or years.  Maybe I missed something on the initial import but it'd hard to know.

Hi, I do not know how the logic of mission generation works, especially on the template side, but could these problems be linked to the fact that some "Group object" covers in fact very large portions of the map?

It is the case of PORTS* in Kuban map, which includes port installations from Kertch to Adler. The group icon (when not set as working) is on square 1723 (25km SE of Gelenzhik). I know that only a portion of the map is populated when a mission is generated, I guess that this group (and all is content) is deleted when the mission occurs too far from it (which is mostly the case during 1943 Kuban).

(*and bridges HW and RW, but these appears corectly).

If I understand correctly: if we set a sufficiently high value for KeepGroupSpread, it would solve or mitigate the chance for missing elements?

If this parameter only affects the placement of non-AI elements, I suppose there shouldn't be a dramatic drop in performance... I'm going to make a few tests and report back.

Nope; higher KeepGroupSpread values make no difference for the issue described...

And to be more precise: there are no docks generated at all, no matter where on the map.

I don't know, @PatrickAWlson... what do we do?
