It looks like it's under the middle of the fuselage. But, perhaps those are the fittings for the centerline bomb rack.

Yes it's the bomb rack. The cameras were further to the tail. Nonetheless I hope we get a camera loadout and a mechanism for taking photos. I guess sooner or later we will also need such a mechanism for FC.

"Jason is lost in the middle of America on a research trip".     Of course,  has to be to The Planes of Fame Museum to see the flyable A6M Zero and get flight data. ? https://planesoffame.org/aircraft/plane-A6M5

It is clearly for the Me 410 that I will buy BoN but seeing the Arado in pictures now makes me want to fly it.

I was there paying my respects recently as well. Looks like they moved it from under Enola Gay to a WWII Luftwaffe specific section since you were there @LukeFF.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, and while I am extremely grateful that I was as close as anyone can get to the last surviving sample, I wish it was in a museum at its native land.

Yes, I visited the museum back in March of 2005 with my parents. I'd just returned from Iraq and had been given 30 day's leave, so we took a trip to the DC area. Udvar-Hazy is a great museum and is well worth the visit.

Under nacelle bomb racks, under water periscope, and a Tesla recharge plug under the tail, very cool.

Ah you beat me to it, I was gonna say I can charge my phone at the back. ?

It is one of my favorite museums to visit. Living in the area I’m spoiled and visit frequently. Since 2005, they’ve added quite a bit, I hope you have a chance to visit again.

Not to hijack the thread, but there are some more photos in the thread below.

I remember the first time i saw a photo of the 234 and the 335 next to it and i was like "is the 234 that tiny or is the 335 that enormous?" ...as it turns out, the answer is yes ?

I look forward to this plane.  I do wish the devs at some point take a look at the larger Axis bombs.  They don't perform as well as their smaller counterparts.

I started out wanting a Go-229 (and nothing else really)... then I discovered the interest in flying aircraft which are outmatched - and the 4x0.50 messy cockpit P-51B in SWOTL was that (until I got a mod with the Mig-3 - which was when I truly fell in love). I then gradually came to dislike the P-51 in Il-2 1946 as a result of the stall/spin characteristics, but fell in love again in BoX (it whistles at you!!! ? ). So I've gone from being you to something else. In fact, part of me would like a Mustang Mk.1 for those low-altitude recon missions over Dieppe! Same engine as a P-40, but either extra 0.30s or a 20mm Hispano based armament - it'd be like a hybrid of a Mustang, a P-40, and something British!

Im very curious how useful the periscope will be in practice

Very useful for watching Allied aircraft as you wave bi bi!

We need to watch U.S. Museum webcams to see if we can spot Jason.....bring a stopwatch. Whatever it is I'll be grateful, and hope he enjoys himself

Is that the He-219 next to it? I didn't realize they had completed that restoration.

Wasn't there a bombsight in the periscope? If so then I hope that we get it. Plus the moveable control column to be able to look through the Lofte 7.

No sign of the rear-firing guns in the pictures - thankfully. But that does look like the drogue chute set-up under the tail - that would be an absolute blast to have. To get it off the ground and land it again the RATO pods are needed (confirmed in the pics) and the drogue, so let's hope for the announcement of the working chute.

Perhaps that's what Jason has gone to research. ?

Like @LukeFF said, they’re still working on it, but it’s at least at the exhibition floor…

I’m looking forward to putting the Arado into my missions. The first one will be the bombing of the bridge at Remagen. I have several good books detailing other missions using the Rhineland map which I will do. On the upcoming Normandy map the Arado was used by the Luftwaffe to photograph the whole D day invasion front from a very high altitude - the Allies couldn’t catch it! It was also used on later recon missions over Normandy and England though I am sure it was one of the original aircraft with a ‘ski type’ undercarriage. DFLion
