If I do a quick google search for "aircraft museum", we find the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs (https://www.worldwariiaviation.org/aircraft/). They have a B-25 in their collection, hence my tentative statement that that's the thing Jason's going to announce. Excellent deduction, good sir! But now it seems Jason's moved to the plains beyond Denver. Here's my next theory: One of Glen Campbell's most famous songs is Wichita Lineman. Any special museums or points of aviation interest there? I know there's some Boeing history there, but beyond that I can't say.

oc2209 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) This is the sitrep, men: We know the asset was in Denver. We believe the asset has moved eastward from Denver. There are two probable routes of egress from the last known location, which I have graphically illustrated for your collective edification: The star denotes my personal guess as to the asset's destination. While a drive north to Cheyenne from Denver is theoretically possible, I doubt there's any major military museums in that part of the country. We have the latest intel. Now it's time to use it for even more preposterous theories. We all know what's expected of us. Let's make 'em proud. Edited November 3, 2021 by oc2209 2

oc2209 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) What I'm starting to wonder now, is why drive instead of fly? My original theory was that he was going to Phoenix or Tuscon, AZ. Both have aircraft museums, and more to the point, one of Glen Campbell's most famous destination-related songs is By the Time I Get to Phoenix. Driving from Vegas to Phoenix is pretty short, and might be worth it to avoid the hassles of air travel. But then that theory was ruined by the lack of snow in the Mogollon rim (mountainous area you must drive through to reach Phoenix from the north), and Jason's pics showing a lot of snow. The only other prominent Glen Campbell city song* is of course Wichita Lineman, as I've mentioned. Since Denver's been confirmed, it increases the probability of Wichita being the destination. However, that seems too far to drive just for a jaunt. Are there any technical or equipment-related reasons that would preclude air travel? I'm thinking now that the purpose of the trip is purely research and documentation related, and not an inspection of an actual aircraft (my original assumption). Most physical examples of WW2 aircraft can be found in California it seems, with the major exception of the Air and Space Museum in DC. *(not counting Galveston, but driving through snow this early in November also eliminated that as a possibility) Edited November 3, 2021 by oc2209

You, sir, are a master. That road is pretty much where I expected given that it's the only place around that has any trees at all, but for the life of me I couldn't find it. Target re-acquired. Recommencing operations. Assuming that the target doesn't take any unnecessary detours, his destination must be roughly in the following area: As otherwise either the I90 or I70 would have been a faster route (according to Google Maps). Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum 28210 West Park Highway, Ashland, NE 68003 Aircraft & Collection – Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum (sacmuseum.org) I doubt he would go to Lincoln for their B25J its not airworthy. If that was his goal he would have gone for cold springs, they have an airworthy B25J after all. The same can be said about the A26 and C47, there are closer alternatives for each. But for the B25D only 2 airworthy models exist in the world, seems like a good reason for a 2000 mile roadtrip. 1
