-332FG-SGTSAUSAGE138 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) Can you remove the limit on the select-able time of day? I like to set up night missions as well as dawn/dusk missions and this is not possible as the QMB sits. Otherwise, it is a good addition to the game. Also tweaking the ai so it doesn't do only the infinite flat turn fight and doesn't fly off of the players inputs would make single player much more interesting. Fleshing out the ai in general is greatly needed actually. Thanks Also adding the ability to use planes from different eras/maps (not just the "historic" sets) would make the QMB a much better asset. Mtnbiker1998 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 I've run plenty of dawn/dusk missions in the AQMB, just set the season properly for early sunrise/sunset as needed. Never noticed the night restriction though, thats weird. Regarding AI it'd beeen discussed plenty elsewhere on the forums. I would however agree that having the option for ahistoric planesets would be nice, it'd open up a few fun options especially with the mods we have like the Asia and Desert retextures for Kuban.
-332FG-SGTSAUSAGE138 Posted November 11, 2021 Author Posted November 11, 2021 Na the time as it is isn't really dawn/dusk imo. I want to take off before sunrise and fight into the night sometimes. It's not really dawn/dusk to me unless it goes into/out of night. As it sits the QMB doesn't allow this plus you cant do night stuff.
JimTM Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 (edited) I know it's not simple, but you can change a mission generated by the AQMB to a dusk, dawn, or night mission by adjusting the time and date in the IL-2 mission editor. Do the following: 1. In the QMB, create an advanced mission, start it, exit it immediately, and exit the game. If you like, you can exit it in the Briefing screen, just before you enter the cockpit. 2. Start the mission editor by running STEditor.exe in your game directory under \bin\editor 3. In the File menu, choose Open, navigate to \data\Missions under your game directory, choose file _gen.Mission, and click Open. The mission that you just generated in the QMB opens in the editor. If you get any error messages, cancel/close them. You will see a Mission Properties dialog floating over or near the main editor screen. 4. In the Mission Properties dialog, do the following: a. Change Name and Author to whatever you like. b. Change the Date and Time values to give you a dawn, dusk, or night environment, ideally with the moon in the sky. You can left click and drag in the main screen to look around for the moon. c. Change the value under Mission Type to Single. d. (Optional) Change the Description text to suit the new time. 5. In the File menu, choose Save As and do the following: a. Change the file name to whatever you like. b. (Optional) Click New folder to create a new folder under /Missions and navigate there or to an existing folder. c. Click Save. Your mission is now available under the IL-2 Missions screen. You can add a runway flarepath to your departure field to aid in your takeoff. Do the following: 1. Close the mission editor. 2. Unzip the attached file RunwayFlarepath.zip to your /Missions directory or a folder you create under that directory, such as Groups (recommended). RunwayFlarepath.zip 3. Start the mission editor and open your dawn/dusk/night mission. 4. Make sure that the GRP button in the toolbar is pressed. 5. Move the view in the editor to your departure field. For help, see the following in the editor manual: - Select Views and Move Around in the View Port (pg. 13) - Toggle Between the 2-D (Ortho) View and the 3-D View (pg. 13) - View a Map (Called a "GUI Map") in the View Port (pg. 14) 6. At the top right click the Groups button, and under that choose runwayflarepath. Your cursor changes to a square with a P beside it. You can press Esc to cancel your choice and start this step again. 7. Click near the runway. The flarepath group is placed where you clicked. 8. Click on the green flarepath group icon and move and rotate the flarepath group to line it up with the runway. For help, see "Move and Rotate an Icon" on pg. 16 of the editor manual. 9. Save your mission. Here's a sample Typhoon airfield attack mission I generated from the AQMB: JimTM - Change AQMB Mission to Night.zip Unzip this file to your \missions folder.
