In the new AQMG there are new Preset options for clouds beyond what was available before, and it definitely makes a difference. Whether it's the new clouds they have been talking about of late is not within my sphere of knowledge as I am not part of the Dev team, but there has been a change all the same and it's quite noticable.

There are five weather types (clear, light, medium, heavy, overcast). Each of these weather types has 10 different variants. It's been like this for ages. All the Devs have done, is add a slider to explicitly choose between the 10 variants (before, it was always selected at random). They haven't changed anything else, nor would it make sense to, with the new clouds coming soon.

When are you going to fix the CAMEL. ????  you have it underpower'd  - it should try to climb so that you have to push the stick forward in normal operation, not dive into the ground.

Flying wave-top shipping interdiction attacks in an A-20 on the Kuban map has been a dream of mine for ages.  AQMG has made it a reality.  Great stuff!

Thanks for the needed explanation of the difference in the old and new weather and you are right that the new clouds are not here yet so I misread the initial update breakdown, but it's not my imagination about the new slider making a change for the better, at least on my PC which is rather high-end. Like I noted before I always had an shimmering aliasing effect on the bottom of the clouds looking off to the horizon regardless of which weather type I used in any particular mission, singleplayer QMB or Career, sometimes a squared edge in a couple of places on some clouds, and the fresnel lens effect on some. While now there is still some fresnel lensing, it is reduced, and the distant aliasing shimmer underneath is completely gone, as well as the occasional squared edge. I have tried all the new presets now in all weather conditions (except Overcast) on 3 maps, minus Moscow, and there is definitely an improvement on my display with #5 preset giving me the best results. So maybe my computer is subject to it's own form of placebo effect 'cause I haven't taken any mind altering drugs for quite a few years now. Maybe reality itself has shifted in my region of the planet? I don't care it just looks better and that's a plus.

 

It's still a great update and hotfix anyway, thanks Devs.

26. Fixed an issue where only the leader of a group of landing AI planes defended against enemy planes;

 

I had that happen just for the first time and it worked pretty well. One suggestion though, it would be nice if the AI would turn off the nav lights, once they start engaging the enemy aircrafts.

Love the new AQMB, the missions feel quite lively now and give me lots of options, just got to try out a decent sized Paradrop for example which I really enjoyed. For the future I'd like to see more mission options and appropriate aircraft as well as night missions.

For those who don't know how to access the AQMB, click on "Quick Mission" on the main menu, then select one of the new icons on the air bases. That will bring up the mission generation.

Thanks for posting that.  I was going nutty trying to find the new AQMB.  They could have made it a bit more obvious to find.

You can load the created _gen.mission into the Editor, and change the plane there. As the AQMB does not explicitly name the planes set,

look for the player; it's the plane in the portview with the most green lines attached to it ..

PS don't forget to set the re-worked mission type to Single, or it won't load in the game ...

Hi Falcon41,

Sounds like you got the answer from others that I was going to share. I just wanted to add that I’ve been uploading Career missions into the Mission Editor for years to get custom skins into the missions. Back in the Rise of Flight days it was just a matter of editing the mission file in Windows Note Pad. I was hoping IL2 Great Battles would be similar. But in ROF I had only my plane with a custom unique skin with everyone else with a common group skin. For WW2 combat, with each individual plane having unique ID numbers/letters, each plane gets their own unique skin. Just be aware, for the Career generated missions you will need to assign the correct airplane model to only the planes in your flight (ex: if your flying Typhoons you’ll need to change the model to reflect that). But mission files from AQM generator loaded into the Mission Editor you need to assign the model to all planes in the mission because they all default to the C-47. That’s how you can then assign skins and change: load out, call signs, etc. One other drawback is that you will lose the front-line markers on the inflight map. All the ground units and close aircraft show up though. Yes, it’s a lot of work. But I really enjoy seeing the custom skins in the missions. Especially when you’ve targeted a specific plane and have identified it by its unique markings!

Thanks for the tip! But how do you change the plane type without having to redo all the connections?

Just updated with the Hotfix.

Game will not launch - getting an error 10027 Packed Data Verification Fail, please restore original Packed Data.

Not running any Mods either.

Any ideas?

Well it has been several weeks since I have run the game, however pretty sure I kept it updated but maybe missed one perhaps.

Thinking a clean install may be in order. 

Considering I have never done a clean install since my original install back when early access started on the original probably a good idea anyways, so have begun the process. Hopefully it will clear things up for me.

 

Hoping I don't have to rebind all my controllers, I saved the Input folder to my desktop to have access to it.

I take that back on the clean install, I did do that when I built this rig in Jan 2019. Oh well another clean install can not hurt.

 

Edit - Ok clean install seems to have fixed my issue. Also restored the current actions file from the input folder I had backed up and my controllers are still set up and good to go. Success!

Just open the mission, select the plane and in the pop-up you can change the plane model. Don't forget to save as single mission type ...

rename the updates folder, in ..... :\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles, then start the launcher might fix that ..

These things i was tipped off when i was a beginner LoL. There should be some general help page with all them little tricks to try when things go wrong.

Especially what to do when updating game versions; never do it without a proper game folder backup whee all was still behaving well ... Learned that the hard way.

Much thx for the hard work and achivements firstly,but i have sth confuse me.

In short,a few players i know and myself believe that visual contact has been reduced in 4.605.

Visual sense plays a crucial part.Obivously,i used to spot dots 10km away,even further in winter map.But after the latest update, the spotting range seems half as much as before.It makes me uncomfortable and wired.

Look forward to your replies.

 

PS:vision in FC server looks normal.

11 to 19: light

21 to 29: medium

31 to 39: heavy

Higher -> overcast

 

 

If you want some nice coulds, the best should be n°38 (double layers)

Thanks but I already uninstalled and did a clean install. That fixed that issue.

Unfortunately though something is amiss and it is totally unplayable now in VR for me.

 Everything on the Menu screens is shaking and stuttering like 1fps or something. Once in plane flying it is ok, but I can't stand working with the menus as they are.

Been troubleshooting it most of the afternoon with no luck so today was a bust, posted in VR forums also.

 

Unfortunately for me now it is unplayable no way can I work with the menus as they are.

IL-2 is only game I have running that does this. Never seen it do that before either so it is very strange especially after a clean install of the game.

Only thing I copied the currentinput file over to have my joystick settings which worked fine, but just to check I deleted it and plugged my settings back in, and still doing it. No idea - will keep an eye on VR forum to see if anyone else thinks of anything.

i don't have VR, but i noticed some kind of occasional stutter ....

There are so many variables, like to steam or not to steam for one and their reckless updating. GPU hardware and windows updates suddenly installed.

Thank you Sir...Click the country icon and the AQMB appears..soooooo cool ...I am mostly a single player with limited time.. I will be spending all my time here to learn this game in a heck of a fun way....this is the BOMB

AQMB..lets see..hit play button ..sim loads up..and...whithin a few short seconds I am having the time of my life...even when I dont have time to put my track IR gear on..this little gem has Knocked the ball out of the FRIGGEN park!!!!@  ????????:dance:

Is there a way to disable the automatic rotation to the next mission when leaving your (in game)server? 

It does this even when only one mission is in queue.  What it loads as the next mission is a blank map. 

This only started happening after this update.  I saw nothing in the documentation about this "feature".

Or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Fly anti ship missions on AQMB on Kuban at dawn is really fun and works for me like an appetiser if think about can do this in the Pacific in air carrier or island to island missions…

Please,please add a AQM spawn point at Hesepe and Achmer so we can use those airfields for Me262.

Also if its possible increase the number of medium bombers at least to 10.

I tried a few rounds in the new mission generator and really enjoyed knocking the stuffing out of a German air field in a Hurricane. Lots of action, lots of stuff going on and crucially it didn't waste my time putting me 30 minutes away from the objective. Thank you to the devs.

10 ! bombers... in 2021... your optimist... this is not early 2000s... games advanced so mutch we cant be having that many bombers in them... think about the details we have. ?

Right?? It's pretty incredible, love that it spawns a whole flotilla of ships with air cover. World of difference from attacking the some rote pair of submarine + freighter on regular quick missions.

Been away for a while and just noticed the AQMB - gotta say this is truly awesome. I love how everything is put together in these missions and you get this fog of war experience. Suddenly, planes that you'd rarely fly in a QMB make sense in the context of the whole scenario. Good stuff! Flew three or four sorties last night and even survived a couple of them. Devs, you guys rock!

 

A couple of questions:

  • Are AI plane types/loadouts generated randomly within certain limits or are they fixed for the mission type?
  • Would it be possible to keep the same loadout configuration for your plane when selecting a new mission?

They way it works now, you have to select loadout every time you set up a new mission, unlike the QMB where you only have to do it if you pick another plane. No biggie though, I just thought it would be cool.

 

Anyway, again the AQMB is such a cool feature, and in my opinion it triples the value of what we've already got in the game because everything is put into context in these missions.
