Why are there no human crew for guns and vehicles on by default?

If you go to Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover. Open conf.ini, and change SpawnHumans=0 to SpawnHumans=1  there will be ground crew but why is this not on by default?

Because it puts more demands on player's systems... and some players do not have higher quality PC's.

Ah so Great Battles has better performance? Because ground crew seems to be always there in Great Battles.

 

(I haven't got cliffs of dover yet but thinking about getting it when the new VR update comes out. I noticed on a few youtube videos that people don't know there is ground crew for COD, only with a comment on this video I found out about it.

)

CloD is an old sim, but it's way, way more complex as it looks, mate.

I read a few comments about it having better a damage model than Great Battles, guess this explains it.

Oleg Maddox dreamed too big for the sucessor of 1946. It's a pity it was rushed and launched at the wrong time and PCs couldn't support it right. And it had a lot of bugs due to its complexity and other issues.

 

One key factor for me to love CloD, is the partially interactive/clickable cockpits. It really makes you understand how those machine works, it's not a fully interactive experience like some outstanding DCS modules but everything crucial is interactive.

CLIFFS OF DOVER can support a large number of vehicles/artillery in a mission, it is better than a lot of games that way.

 

But when you place all these elements, then add the crew, there is a cost in CPU/Graphic Card demand.

 

So we leave the option to enable the crew to the player.

 

We'll look at switching it to default crew present rather than default crew absent... but in that case, we'll need to put a bigger notice to players so they know it can be disabled.

It could also be added to the "Video Options" as a "checking box" so the player could also change in-game, Buzz. An option like "Spawn or Show Ground Crew". ?
