After the install of the 4.604 update I flew on Combat Box Red Flight server with no issues whatsoever.  Everything rendered properly including the tracers from the .50 caliber MG of the P-51D-15.

 

Afterwards I flew a quick mission in a P-51D-15 to see the effects of the .50 caliber rounds on a Bf-109G-14 and recorded the flight.  No problems when watching the flight record both from inside of the cockpit or exterior view.  The tracers from the .50 caliber rendered nicely.

 

I then chose to watch several older flight records and in each of those records I got the below attached error.  In one flight record IL2 GB locks up completely necessitating shutting down IL2 GB from the task manager.  This happened each time I tried to watch this flight record.

 

POP-UP message:

Can not open effect

graphics\effects\arm\hit_ap_12-23mm_armour.epl

 

I then checked other older flight records and the same pop-up would occur, but I could put the cursor over and click the okay button and the record would continue until the .50 caliber guns were fired and the pop-up occurs again.  I also saw after the pop up two mouse cursors appear simultaneously in the game (only one actually worked) and only disappear after shutting down IL2 GB.

 

I am running a nVidia RTX 2080ti Founder Edition with the latest nVidia standard drivers (clean install last night) at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and it is not over clocked and matches the native resolution for my ASUS VG27AQ Monitor running at 144 FPS which also is not over clocked.

Old flight records will be no good after patch.

Is it fair to say the dispersion of pretty much every weapon has been slightly lessened according to the new modeling?

Just reporting the facts since it is a new patch/update.

 

It was an unexpected error that I did not get after previous patches/updates.

Should be slightly increased, at least in several cases.

I was thinking of the increase in random misses (slightly outside the convergence zone). Beyond that, maybe a tiny bit more jitter from the extra recoil of 2 more guns?

 

I mean, every bullet doesn't fall perfectly within the convergence area, right? It's all just a matter of probability.

 

So with more bullets fired at the same area, I would expect:

 

A) more hit location variability within the convergence area, and B) a few more misses outside of the area.

 

It looks like the P-47 is firing two precise clusters of shots that don't significantly increase in area, even when further out (like 500m). The P-51's pattern seemed less precise and more of what I expected from increased dispersion.

really nice this image ... but with me, it's always the same ... hyper reworked image? and people have the effect of smoke with it?

 

edit: ok, after ckeck steam files, smoke appear...

 

edit again: seems to be random... don't understand...

So I did a test. Installed effects by meplanes1969 with the same scenario (PWCG) and everything worked.

Thanks nice update, had a quick look and all is ok (unlike MSFS now that's another story) I do like how stable this sim is never ever had any problems with it.

Hello guys, thank you very much for the update, really appreciated, downloaded and installed with no drama.:drinks:

 

This is a great addition.;)

 

3. The nationality of the player's aircraft in the Quick Mission now depends on which paint scheme was selected before the mission was generated (which in turn determines the voiceover, crew, and tactical numbers);

 

For me this will only work if I actually set up a duel with a enemy aircraft, if I start as a single aircraft on the ground I still have the Russian voices and clothing even with a British skin, seems odd surely it should work anyway. 

 

Is this how it is intended or has something been missed for these single aircraft starts?

This is a near perfect confluence of 200m firing distance with 200m convergence. As you can see, the strikes are very concentrated. I've also tested the '47 against some Ju-88s and He-111s to see if the pattern is any more noticeable on their broad wings.

I've checked this again - P-51 and P-47 M2.50 guns have identical dispersion settings in the game.

 

Full dispersion diameter of 8 mils means that most of bullets will be in 3 mils diameter circle. 200m it's 0.6m. Pretty close to what we see on your video.

There was a trouble in VR (you still can rotate your head in VR while looking to telescopic/periscopic gunsight) - whe you looks to the side where everything is black - sun is visible trough it - it was fixed.

you were testing this inside the panther didn't you?

 

panther has gas exhaustion system which eject the gas out of the tank aftre firing the each rounds so crew can breath fresh air while they are firing loads of rounds lol

(german alien technology again relative to it's time)

 

that's why you couldn't see the gas flash nor the smoke 

 

or the other tank have this effect now 

 

if you still have a problem then i recommend you to reset the graphic setting 

right after update there was some kind of graphical bug appeared to me (white dot shimmering around the textures)

after resetting the graphic settings it is fixed

And some AI objects developed as part of the Battle of Normandy have been introduced into the project.

 

What objects? I don't find new objects in mission editor:blush:

Thank you. Great update. An impressive amount of work done once again by the whole team. Anyone who claims they’ve not gotten their monies worth in this series is being disingenuous considering all the updates that are essentially freebies. 
 

I am disappointed in what I saw or didn’t see in the “new” .50s last evening. Not in the changes made, I’m certain they’re top notch. I just couldn’t hit squat last night. Kept waiting to see that 109 blow up or have that 190 disappear instantly. Maybe tonight.

Outstanding! Thanks mucho for this unexpected update. Especially the AI wingman update as they have been one of my most annoying adversaries in the careers I've been running over the last couple of months. I had to spend almost as much time avoiding friendly AI in a furball as I did enemy aircraft. In fact my AI wingmen had cost me several careers (always Ironman, full real, and "hard" settings so no resurrection from the afterlife) due to friendly fire and collisions, so this is especially welcome.

 

Glad to hear about the .50s too. I felt they were a little off, but in my beautiful P-51 I chewed a few wings off 109s and 190s, and had seen a few blowup before the update, so I think some of the complaints were just as much about poor marksmanship as they were about some underpowered ballistics (someone will probably hate me for bringing up poor gunnery skills, but they do exist regardless;-). Highly appreciated all the same though this will probably not end the infinite forum posts and debates that frankly I've just gotten bored over, I don't bother to read any .50 cal posts anymore.

 

For an under manned crew you guys do wonders! Thanks Jason and crew!

Can't overemphasis this enough for the SP community, it completely changes how aggressive you can be, especially as noted for those who play Ironman.  I spent a few hours last night testing this in 3 v 4 flying the P-51, P-47, Spitfire IX, Tempest, Spad VII, Camel & Alb and as far as I could tell was never "violated from the rear" by my AI wingmen. 

 

I can't thank Han and Team enough for this unexpected part of the update.  It is going to be a true game changer!  :salute:

I've noticed that now the smoke from explosions, impacts and crashed planes have a weird red tint and also they stop smoking when not looking in their direction...

When looking at them again they start smoking again from the ground up, very immersion braking!

Observed with no mods! In my oppinion not really a positive change!

So far my experience has been great. Myself and an AI wingman chased a flight of 111's in my P-38 PWCG campaign last night and I was able to successfully trade places a few times with my wingman on a targets tail. Whereas before I would have stayed well out of his way, last night he respectfully kept his distance (and bullets) from me until I broke off, at which point he resumed the chase. 

 

Another thing I noticed (and maybe this was an earlier update, I'm just coming back after a break), on an overcast day an AI 109 I went up against was actively using the clouds to attempt to shake me off his tail. He did a series of repeated dives and climbs through the clouds, even leveling off inside them at one point. Maybe a coincidence, but it was a very fun dogfight vs the endless circle-fighting I remember from previously.

Very glad that you guys fixed the g-stamina and excessive haze on the Spitfire's armoured glass.

Love the new tracers. much closer to my memories of the one time I've fired tracer rounds IRL (50cal)

Other improvements are great too. Kudos to the team!! :drinks:

It works in every type of quick mission mode and was confirmed to be working as such in the final beta build.

Eh...no. Every tank has an exhaust system designed to remove the gases from expended ammo. It's not some unique German technology. ?

You need to select the skin before loading into the hanger for it to work. If you change national skin in the hanger the mission is already generated and nationality is locked into the mission.

I suppose it appears when gunfire is in the view. We're working on it, soon will be a hot-fix.
