Java 16 Compatibility?

I have Java 16 (64bits) installed on my PC.

 

java -version :

java version "16.0.2" 2021-07-20
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 16.0.2+7-67)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.0.2+7-67, mixed mode, sharing)

 

JAVA_HOME is also set to jdk-16.0.2 directory.

 

I would've assumed I could run PWCG.

 

But I still get the "Requires Java Runtime Environment 1.8.0 64bits" message when trying to launch PWCG.

 

I searched this forum to no avail.

PWCG is built for Java 8 compatibility.  I am running Java 11 without problems.  Not sure about Java 16.  I googled java 8 - 16 compatibility and did not find any reports of problems.  I'll keep looking.  Anybody out there on Java 16, feedback is welcome

Thanks for the reply. I don't understand why this specific version of Java is having an issue if you are running it with Java 11.

Small update.

 

Thought I'd try with Java 11.

C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11.0.12

 

Just to confirm, I'm trying to launch PWCG from:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\PWCGBoS

I think your problem is the games location! Move the game out of that folder to anywhere on your disc(s) and I think you´ll be good to go.

I'm getting a similar issue with PWCGBoS, if I try to launch it I am getting the Java check message even though I have it installed.

I have PWCGFC installed and that is launching fine

 

EDIT: now resolved. The Java prompt was opening te Java download page and installing the 32bit version. Searched and manually installed 64bit version. PWCGBoS now launched
