What does this mod do?

•     Adds historical markings to all official german aircraft skins + allied skins that include swastikas (art/kill markers).
•     Adds historical markings to all german aircraft menu previews.

 

Install

JSGME/OVGME (Suggested)

• Downloads are JSGME/OVGME ready. Extract the zip file into your mods directory.

 

Manual

1. Navigate to your IL2 install directory.

   • Standalone - C:\Program Files\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles
     Steam - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad

2. Copy the 'data' folder from the mod's zip into your IL2 install directory.

Default & Winter = pretty much what it sound like, the default grey & winter skins. (ai will be seen in these skins)

All = is default & winter + all the extra skins based off historical pilot/other nations liveries. (I do not believe ai will use the extra skins.)

All replaced by Extra more details in edit notes

I will rename the download options to avoid future confusion.

Ju52 hasn't been released in 4K by the devs yet - it's the last one to come.

the 'All in One' downloads contain every skin included in the mod. you can ignore the edit notes below the downloads.

'Extra' is all the extra skins based off historical pilot/other nations liveries.

It's great that you've fixed the kill markings for the P-38, P-47s & P-51 skins too.

 

Do you have any plans to do the same for the Spitfire VB & IXE, Typhoon and Yak 7B & 9 skins? (Specifically, skin06 for the Spit V, skin05 for the Spit IX, skin08 for the Typhoon, skin08 for the Yak 7 and skin04 for the Yak 9).

I was unware of theses thanks for mentioning them.

For the SpitVB did you mean skin 14? I dont see anything to edit on skin 6.

Edit: nvm the official skin was censored with crosses instead of the usual "cut" swas

Given how thorough you were with this project I suspected that you may appreciate knowing about those other skins.

 

Yes, skin06 for the SpitVB is censored with crosses. 

 

I missed noticing skin 14 too.

I am having a really hard time finding mods here (no real thread structures, downloadlinks hidden on page 5 of 14, ...). Thank you for doing it all in your first post and offering various versions, clearly labeled!

MediaFire is not playing nice. Very convoluted download process, that does not work. Microsoft Edge throwing out all kinds of warnings.

 

Getting bogus Virus detected alerts from Microsoft and Norton, asking me to take action.

 

Is there any other location to download from?

 

Edit: Downloaded the files and ignored the warnings. Checked with Windows Defender and no problems.

After you click the download button, the download should automatically start. ***DO NOT*** click on anything from any pop up windows! Those are not good for your computer! As long as you close the popup windows nothing will be harmed on your computer.

 

I checked the file on Virus Total and the actual downloaded file is clean Virus Total check

However, I somehow clicked on something that I shouldn't have. I keep getting bogus notification in Microsoft Edge about a VIRUS, which I know is a false flag thing.

 

I'm going to try to figure out how to get rid of that notification (already tried re-installing Edge - that didn't work).

 

I'm just irritated that people upload files to such sketchy www sites.

In Edge, go to "Settings" > Cookies and Site Permissions > under "Site Permissions" see if you have allowed any sites you clicked on that allowed "notification". If you do, remove it from there and see if that helps

Thanks for the reply, I did go through my settings and blocked a couple of sites I didn't recognize. Unfortunately, that did not make any difference. Still getting the bogus virus notices. Malwarebytes and Windows Defender are not finding anything, either.

The packs get updated with new files.
Updates section is there so people who’ve already downloaded a pack don’t have to re-download the whole pack for a few skins.

Grab a good ad/script blocking browser extension like ‘ublock origin’ & these “sketchy” sites will be a lot easier & safer to navigate.

You'll need to find your game's directory and the Data folder inside. Once you do that, copy everything inside the mod's Data folder over into to your game's Data folder. If you do it that way all of the mod files should go to their correct location.

 

If you have the Steam version your game directory will be something like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data

 

And I just remembered, you have to enable mods in the game's settings.

Hello, thanks for the elegant way for managing correct default skins! However I have a question, do we need the .dds files in data>graphics>planes>planeFolder>textures folder?

 

EDIT: Ok, found out that without it the "most" default skin will be censored.
