migmadmarine Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Pat, I know you've got units closer to the front to cut down on flight times, but for god's sake please can we have the option to fly from the correct airfields? Me and my group are flying out of with II. Group JG.52 in the 43 period of Kuban, and we are sick of being jammed up against the front line at Kyivskoe when we are supposed to be based out of Anapa. It makes for a really awful time, constantly being bounced at takeoff constantly and having climb to 5,000 straight off the end of the runway. I get there are those who want shorter flights, but can we Please have the option to fly from the right airfields?
Highwayman Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Have you got some data you can share on the historical operating locations for all the squadrons in the theatre for the time periods? That would be a good base to start from, as I too would like to see this as an option after just having flown an Me262 campaign in Bodenplatte as some of the runways were a little short, but I don't have any information to share on where they should be operating from, let alone all of the other squadrons in the theatres.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I cannot maintain multiple data sets. You could modify the data yourself, as the files are plain text JSON.

At least for the periods covered by the vanilla career, it can be used as a reference, as Luke has gone to great lengths to provide data on the correct locations to the devs.
PatrickAWlson Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 I would l very much like to have that information. I do not. Can you provide a link?
migmadmarine Posted July 31, 2021 Author Posted July 31, 2021 Best to see if @LukeFF is able/willing to share his research. Honestly,if/when I edit the files for my bunch I'm mostly going to just be copying the locations from vanilla career.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 31, 2021 1CGS Posted July 31, 2021 I'll see what I can do - in the meanwhile, if you extract the 13, 14, 15, and 18 squadrons.cfg files, plus the AI squadrons files, you can see where and when all the units were located.

Hey, going to take a look at some of these, what directory do I find these files in?
HotPursuit Posted August 13, 2021 Posted August 13, 2021 (edited) Hi migmadmarine First you need to extract the game gtp file with ungtp.exe. The file you need to ungtp is called scripts.gtp, it's in the games 'data' folder. When extracted the files you need (ie 13squadrons.cfg etc.) are found in Scripts\scg\scripts Edited August 13, 2021 by HotPursuit

Is there a newer version of ungtp available? the forum thread I found was years old.
HotPursuit Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I think this always appeared at the end of extracting data....
migmadmarine Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 Oooooooh, ok, I assumed that meant the task failed so I didn't go looking in the export directive, so all is fine.
