Greetings,

What is everybody getting for temps in IL2? I was getting around 63C (GPU) with my G2  until I ghetto rigged a 140mm fan up against my 3090. I'm seeing around 55C (GPU) or so now at around 22-23C ambient. I was thinking about getting the EVGA hybrid kit, anybody have one? Can you let me know your GPU temps in VR and if you think it's worth it?

Thanks

In IL-2 my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 is usually between 55-60c. It rarely breaks 60c. Since I game in VR with earbuds I run my fans full blast while gaming.

Thanks. I assume your air cooled? I hear the hybrid kit may bring it down anywhere from 10-15C. Just wondering if that's actually true...

Yep air cooled FTW3 = three fans.

I have no experience with the hybrids.

Last night I noticed 65-70° C on my stock, air-cooled EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra, with ambient temps probably 24° C / 77° F in my office in Los Angeles. I almost exclusively play MP, usually on Finnish with 30-50 other players, for 2-3 hours at a time.

While flying IL-2, I see anywhere from 47-51C for the GPU.  Using a 3090FE, and undervolted (because I can). ?  I do have a custom fan curve, (a little more aggressive).

Well, I do have the FTW3 Hybrid, and my temps are nothing to write home to.

Today I played about 2+ hours, Bodenplatte US career, two free hunts, 8 allied, 3-4 axis planes, 1 escort bombers mission, 8 allied fighters, 9 bombers, up to 4 axis planes. All missions heavy clouds.
Graphics settings at high with medium mirrors and medium clouds, 70 km draw distance, no AA. Lowest FPS 60 at take off, and when near bombers and clouds.

G2 SS at 100%, Motion smoothing disabled. Ambient temp is a bit tricky. The house is set at 77F/25C, but where my computer is next to fan/furnace, with no supply/return grills. Whatever cooling I get there, is by means of conduction as I have 8 feet of ducts overhead.

Without further ado; GPU temp: 58.9C (51C average), memory temp 80C max. I’m running the latest XOC bios, (C0.06 I think). Max GPU clock was 1995 MHz, max mem clock was 1219 MHz, max power draw was 419 W.

Seeing what you guys are reporting, I think I need to do a bit of optimizing on my system :( . i7 10700KF, 16 MB (3000 MHz, but 3600 MHz 32MB on the way). I relied on the motherboard’s (msi z490-a pro) own overclock till now, but I think I’ll have to be more explicit with the cpu OC.

Thanks a lot for the information. I was reading the EVGA forums, and there is conflicting information on if the Hybrid kit is worth it or not. Some people saying it dropped their GPU temps approximately 15 degrees on average, and some implying it wasn't worth it at all over air. Maybe a push/pull setup might benefit it further I suppose. Probably will pass on the hybrid and explore a custom loop type setup later, even though I'm a rookie on those sorta things. The 120 dollar price for the hybrid kit is really enticing though...

Yeah, I should have added that I have quite a small case, and can’t do push/pull. Radiator is exhausting at the top, I have 3 intake fans at the front, and cpu AIO is exhausting thru the back.  I did replace the stock fans on the radiator with Noctua fans though.

I followed what @dburne is doing and created a Precision X1 profile that maxes the fans full blast, and I now see a 10° C drop from before - from highs in the low 70s C to low 60s C.

I'm especially going to use the profile while gaming in the summer, since I don't hear the fans over my G2 headset's speakers

Undervolting is your friend. Both 20xx and 30xx cards benefit from it a lot, especially during summer time. The voltage/frequency curves most manufacturers define are just based on ideal temp fantasy. Your card will probably hit the max boost (at 1+ V) maybe once or twice before it throttles down due to heat. Undervolt it reasonably and you'll have it hitting a realistic max boost all the time with much less heat generation (and less power used obviously).

Kissthesky,

Changed my mind and ordered the hybrid kit . Ironically, the next day my queue came up for a 3080 FTW3, so I had to get that for my daughters computer LOL. Did you get the 3090 hybrid complete or build it from the kit? did they include thermal pads for the DDR6X that butts up against the backplate? I'm reading they don't and you have to reuse your old thermal pads but its a little outdated information. If not, did you reuse yours or buy new ones, and if so, what kind and size? Thanks

Mine is the factory hybrid model, but from what I’ve read on eVGA forums, people have been ordering replacement thermal pads from Amazon. What type and size I don’t remember though.

I received the Hybrid kit a couple days ago after UPS temporarily lost the package. I'm so far pretty impressed with it. Dropped my GPU temps anywhere from 10-15 degrees and allowed higher overclock's that I wasn't able to get before in benchmarks. I usually don't overclock during gaming though as its really not needed with the 3090. The memory temps didn't really change, and might have went down if anything.1966589961_IL2Hybrid.thumb.jpg.80a83ec3106c99ea0d3ad88042dcf363.jpg

Which tells me I really need to get a better case. I left the side glass open to check temperatures last weekend and am seeing lower (48 max, 41 average) temperatures.

Yep - ideally it should be the opposite - remove side panel and temps raise.

I was holding out till I got the hydro copper so I could do all at once along with the loop. At this rate (been 11 seconds out the last 5-6 weeks), I’m about to throw in the towel and continue with the hybrid to be honest. I’d just get a nice case and be done with it, would be saving the money I’d be spending for the loop to boot.

I got the corsair 5000d from woot, stuck a bunch of fans it it, and took the front panel off. Working good for me so far! It looks like they are still on sale..

I’ve been eyeing those on woot as well. Decisions, decisions.

Does anybody have and/or have an opinion on the GPU AIO setup below? Been eyeing it pretty hard as it seems to come with the Bykski full coverage waterblock. The reviews I've seen indicate the GPU block is pretty good and to be honest my CPU AIO is running pretty good, hence why a custom loop would not be needed if I got this. I believe you may be able to switch the radiator size as well. Thanks
