I chose this aircraft because again it had a superb template underlying a layer of wet look gloss polish. Credit and thanks to whoever made the template upon which this skin was built.

I have experimented with leaving the screenshots in HD resolution this time. I hope that it will be an improvement. 4K exceeded the 5mb limit.

The colours are deliberately different and inline with recent evaluations of WWII Soviet aircraft colourings. They are neither particularly right or wrong as it continues to be a grey area (pardon the pun) and still under debate. The Alpha layer was changed to emphasise the different materials, dirt, oil and paint used. Some of the aluminium is shinier than actual just for effect but lighting also plays a big part.

Looks awesome! But you got a bug in the alpha. There is a ghost star where the 33 is.

Very very nice. V14?...the screenshot completes the full artistic package. And replaces my favourite for the time being?

That is a cracking photo!

I can't believe I got flak for making the screenshot picture. That and the last stalingrad one are my best and even my son who is hard to impress liked them. I'm really getting pissed off with some [edited] encounters in forums. It's like having a traffic warden in the backseat of the car just waiting to have a go. (No doubt some traffic warden will now kick off...)  I used to drive a delivery lorry during my summer holidays as a student and (almost) everytime I stopped to unload that guy would walk around the truck [edited] until I left again. Someone eventually took him home with them and stuck his head down a toilet. That must have been sweet even though it cost him.

my son who is hard to impress liked them...I was also impressed so that makes 2.

Get inputs from a mother in law.....?....they are usually the toughest nuts to crack positively?.

HD is good.

And now to something completely different :-)

"a superb template underlying a layer of wet look gloss polish"  that is equally funny as it is true.

It is the superb finish that you give your creations that is just marvelous.

Sometimes I pause the game to just carefully study all the details you have added like an oil-smear around a latch that glistens in the sun . . .

Thank you so much flowbee . . .    and please carry on!

greetings   little Guardian

Oh, and thanks for the HD-screenshot!   I really hoped for those as you know . . .

I actually compared the original to the version with my adjusted alpha. The original looks like it is sitting in a museum. The dirt that is present looks like it has gone because of gloss the shine but it hasn’t gone anywhere it just looks that way. Adjust the alpha layer to the correct levels and all the detailing emerges. Semi-Matt paintwork, Matt dirt and shiny metal all appear. Even the over painted metal has metallic look to it. It suddenly looks more real and natural.

If the skin does not have the detail then it just looks Matt or gloss. But if someone has put the weathering in then it makes sense to show it. I used to do the alpha layer from scratch but if the skin has been well made in the first place it makes sense to use the good bits and then add more.

It puzzles me though why some are really good with the same features reappearing while others look like they were hurried along with much less time and effort. I suspect it all comes down to money. I do it just to make it look pleasing so money doesn’t come into it.

At the moment I’m working my way through the skins to discover just what does exist. Later I will do new versions with additional bits of weathering and/or new colour and decals. I’m glad you notice the little stuff as it easily gets lost depending on the build it runs on. In 3D I can sometimes actually see paint flakes standing off the underlying surface. This is more luck than anything at the moment as it requires a very fine, thin and dark drop shadow. I’m hoping to get the hang of it as I keep plugging away.

Glad that the HD worked. I will stop resizing to a lower pixel count. The forum software seems to do that automatically now.

Yet another masterpiece by Flowbee. Thank you sir.

I end up flying planes I normally wouldn’t, just to see these cool skins in action.

@SR603-FlowbeeI'm not one for Soviet AC, but that air battle screenshot is brilliant!

Well Done Flowbee :salute:
