Beebop Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 The Pitot Tube? It's not on the parts layer. In fact with the parts layer turned off and only a base color and wireframe turned on it's still there along with the cockpit interior. As you can see below there's no wireframe mesh on it. Can it be painted? Looking at HSD I see most aren't painted and are that AMT green color. However Raptorattaker apparently did find a way to repaint it for his "factory" series. Not a big deal but that AMT green looks funny on my USN F2A hack (over at my Hack Shack thread.)

This texture usually has things like gun barrels and undercarriage parts. I'm not completely sure about this one though because the props and canopy framing are also not covered by the wireframe layer.
LLv24_FooFighter Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 ^ This ^ Just as a hint. Using color layer like this panelfinder is more useful than wireframe when trying to find stuff. 1
Beebop Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 Thanks for the idea but I already use several such tools and tried them first. If they had been successful I wouldn't have had to ask the question. That's why I used the wireframe figuring that anything paintable would have at least one, a or a partial line on it. I notice though that this color tool doesn't colorize the pitot tube either soo..... "ware did that wascally wabbit go?" - E. Fudd
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 (edited) It is not part of the template but part of the "core aircraft parts", for lack of a better term, that cannot be skinned. The prop is also one. Each plane's core parts are different. There is a way to "hack" these other parts. I've never got into that. Edited July 11, 2021 by VBF-12_Stick-95
ICDP Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 It's on a core texture packed within the sim and cannot be edited without mods. You also have the problem that if you change the core texture every single I-16 skin will have the new pitot colour. When I created the template and did the stock skins I deliberately had to pick a generic colour for that part and the obvious choice was AMT-4 Green. 1 2
Beebop Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 @ICDP Thank you for the information and the reasoning behind it. It wasn't a "deal breaker", I was just curious. Thank you for a great template!
