Na-zdorovie Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 say i want to do a line that goes from the fuselage, over the nose down a wing the on the the aileron, as these parts are all separate how can i get them to match up to look like a continuous line? thanks
ROCKET_KNUT Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 Hi @Na-zdorovie, there might be more efficient ways to do this task but here is how I do it: First I put the pattern/picture/decal in a new layer, position it over one part, lets say the wing. I resize it, rotate it, move it around, left/right/up/down until satisfied. Once this one part is fix, I create a new layer with the pattern in it and position it over the next part of the template, i.e. the fuselage. Now comes the boring part: Finding the correct position/size/orientation in order to match up with the wing part. Some stupendous amount of resizing, rotating and moving around might be necessary. ? Meaning: modifying, checking the effect in the IL2 BOS Viewer or in the game itself, going back to the template, modifying again, rechecking and so on until satified. Doing the same with all the other effected parts of the airframe until you end up with what you want. That is basically how I went from this to that: The template in that area looks like this: I hope you find it helpful. If other users know better ways to do it, please share your expiriences with us. 1
RNAS10_Oliver Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 (edited) I use paths and shapes combined with lots of tweaking in order to get things to line up across parts. And using the wireframe layer as a guide to get you near enough to start. Doing your tweaking on paths/shapes (including rotation, resizing and warping) is non-destructive (not sure that the right word) compared to just doing them on an raster layer. The point being that the shape/path can be sized and scaled repeatedly and limitlessly without losing resolution or beginning to look cloudy or pixelated. If the hard edge of filling in an shape/path is not what you desire and your after something more blended (like the camo divides on the planes) you can stroke those paths or just use them as an guide afterwards. ROCKET_KNUT Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 @Na-zdorovieWhat also might help with the P-38 and in fact every other template is this brillant tool here: Panel_Finder_by_Tom_2_2048x2048 Just image google it, download it, put it below the wireframe, resize it to fit the template, create a skin and check in the viewer/game. "Cheers!", "Prost!" and of course "Na Zdorovie!"?
