MiGCap Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) Frechdachs now is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and I hope for the results of the blood test tomorrow. I caught him on Monday and drove him to the vet. He scammed me when we came back: I took him out of the transport box and put him in a basket on a pillow and he looked as if he was still asleep from anesthesia, but when I turned, he jumped out of the basket, ran with high speed to the (mechanically closed!) cat flap and broke through. Away he was in the darkness … He still came every day since for food on the terrace and today he allowed me to touch him again a little bit for the first time since Monday. But showed me very clearly that he wasn‘t pleased with my action. A pic from one week ago: Edited October 31, 2024 by MiGCap Typo: catched instead of caught ... I should have known better! How embarrassing! 7 1 1
Zooropa_Fly Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I'm sure he'll settle down in due course Mig. I'd just question if #2 and #3 on the list of things done were necessary or in the animals' best interests ?
cardboard_killer Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 Cats are much more likely to survive alongside humans if they are neutered. When I spot a stray cat hanging around my house, I trap, get him/her "fixed" and then release. And vaccinations prevent the spread of disease. Also, neutering inhibits male cats from marking their territories with concentrated urine. Stopping that is part of keeping them safe from cat killing humans. 1
Zooropa_Fly Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I concur that neutering is a necessary 'evil'. However, from experience it doesn't necessarily do anything to stop spraying.
MiGCap Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 The chip helps to identify him if something happened. So I can get contacted. We have an organisation here in Germany where the chip numbers are registered. And this new kind of chip allows to measure his body temperature digitally. The chip is so small under the skin that he even notice it. And the vaccination is important to help him survive as an outdoor cat. They usually get all sorts of diseases from their fights with other outdoor cats. And it is important to protect also my other two cats. He comes in contact with them when they walk in the garden - and usually fights the male one. Hope that stops now after neutering. 2
MiGCap Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 He has leucosis. Everything else is okay, says the blood test. Both my other cats are vaccinated against leucosis, so there should be no danger for them. And I can pet him like before the vet visit, obviously he forgave me and still trusts me. 3

GasTeddy Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 As most cat servants know, they run with solar power. Sometimes, when consumption is high, like in a case of an aimcat, some extra recharge is needed. This is how Senior Aimcat Ria is doing combined recharge. She is also studying via braincell energy, which makes her able to read books while sleeping. 3 5 1

Wardog5711 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) It's been awhile since I posted any critter pics. Life has been more than a little chaotic, but they do keep me entertained. My co-pilot Kelli. Our morning sunrise walks are a great way to start a day. 'Bud', the Stray that adopted me during Covid and now pretty much runs the household. He and Kelli are best friends, but she moves out of his way when he walks by. 😄 We had a health scare this past summer that saw him in the vet several times. But he is all better now. He's terrified of strangers, so staying with him was a must. Edited December 24, 2024 by Wardog5711 8 3
Lusekofte Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 @Wardog5711 Chaotic year, sorry to hear that. 2024 has been hectic for me too and my family. We bought a house, and what we thought was a easy sell of old house was not. Due to inbetween houses we got our cats to hospits not having to live in this move chaos, then I got cancer, then curgery then chemo then recovering and still no sale. Had to work a llot paying for two houses. Then I got rid of a hangover I did not know I had, realising I was allergic to the cats, so they live elsewhere now. Not a good year this 2024. I hope 25 will be better for all of us, but things around the world do not look well 3
GasTeddy Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Cats, dogs, pets. They are pure, give consolation when needed and demand no conditions for it. Force majeure made me spend both Xmas and new year alone and without my hairy rascals, it would be much harder. And stop eating my palm trees! "Who, me? What palm tree? Where?" 6 2
GasTeddy Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Question 1: Why to sleep in a comfortable bed, if it can be avoided? Question 2: Does your cat have something interesting to read? Question 3: Do you have something perhaps life-saving to read..? 9 1

TempestV Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) A lone, lame feral chicken I discovered in my daily walk [note the cast I put on it's leg per Youtube]. Bit of a back and forth whether it's a young Hen or Rooster. About 3 months old. Pet? More like a Patient 🤕. Couldn't leave it there ...it would have been torn to pieces by cats. I know what chickens do with injured chickens in their flock. Pecked to death then sometimes eaten.(Really!) The birds name is Hobo. I learned A LOT about chickens last 3 weeks. It has a sweet nature, easily handled, very trusting...preens in my presence, curious, does not run away when have to pick it up. Purrs like a cat when contented. Turds the size of your little finger. Did you know they have Chicken diapers? If it's a hen I'll keep it. If it's a Rooster I don't know what I will do. {My handyman says he would know👉🍗} You choose take an injured animal in...You bought the ticket.... now you take the ride. TempestV Posted February 3 Posted February 3 UPDATE: Well it was settled this early morning while I was on the computer at Oh-Dark 30. Turned the lights on in the Garage, gave Hobo his meal-worm treats 😋 and settled back to the computer to read the news. Suddenly...Hobo crowed...and crowed...AND CROWED! Scared the s #/+ out of me! It took me by surprise. Never crowed before with me. The Rooster does try to walk but still has a small case of bumble-foot (pressure sores) under his formerly lame foot. I thought at first it was dirt...but its bumble-foot scabs. I'm treating it with Epsom salt bath and Neosporin (per YouTube). As soon as that is healed it's back to the Chicken Rat Race for him. I can't keep him. As a Rooster Hobo would crow and he is feeling his teenage hormones and will get aggressive. Still docile and follows me to the door. He is my patient...... but I am his Human. I earned so much about chickens the last 3 weeks. To control the crowing I will keep garage dark until my neighbors are at work. 5 2
GasTeddy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) In Katzenkorps, even aimcats have to do guard duty. There are several posts, and... ...looks like not everyone takes that task seriously. cardboard_killer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 A blast from the past. Here's my cat as a stray, the week after I caught him to have him fixed and then released him back to the 'hood. Never the brightest of cats, he sprung the trap I had set for his sister, trapping himself again for the second time in a week. Here he is today trying to figure out how he could get trapped in the trunk. 1 6 2
MiGCap Posted February 25 Posted February 25 He slowly becomes more confident and comes a few steps inside whem I open the door and provide fresh food. Of course, he has always enough food and water outside in front of the door. 5 3
