Since English clearly isn't Flynco's first language, I'm going to give a proper answer, rather than just repeating the stock joke, to avoid potential misunderstandings (seen it happen...)

The C-47 will be out when it is done. The developers rarely give anything more than a vague statement about release schedules, since they are inherently difficult to be definitive about, and as far as I can see, Jason hasn't said. If anyone else gives an answer, they are guessing. Maybe a month. Maybe a year. If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere in between. But don't hold me to that.

It's a C-47 though,  so regardless how long we have to wait, it will be worth it. ?

Does anyone recall how long it took the Yak-9 planes to come out from first announcement? That might be a good ballpark estimate.

I think it probably relies very heavily on a few staff members (the 3D modelers, 2D artists, etc.) and doesn't rely as much on the Engineering section as that is pretty much done at this point, given it has an FM and DM in game. So even though there is less stages to do as on a full plane it's still bottlenecked around the time these guys have.

If I had to guess, 3-6 months? Probably more towards 6.

More like 6-10 months. The time from Yak announcement to release was 7 months and one day. However the Hurricane ended up being 11 months from announcement to release (and it was announced at the same time). It is very unpredictable though - it'll depend on research, what team members are available... and it won't be a major priority (compared to say, the Ju-88C, Mosquito, Ar-234 and Me-410). The silver lining though is that the Mosquito, Arado, and Me-410 might all have suffered some delays over specific sub-systems... which might mean there are a few gaps for other team members... I'm not sure about that though. There will also be work being done on the FC2 aircraft... which would compete.

It's also my understanding that the Dakota cockpit will be made by an external party, and already well underway (some screenshots of the cockpit have been posted). The external model and a large part of the flight model are already done anyhow. So I'd wager it might not take too long after all (still a couple of months though, mind you). Perhaps even in time for Market Garden, that would be cool.

No gunner stations so that also streamlines things a little bit.

Have a nice day.

I caved and bought it, only to support the devs and when I want a leisurely fly about looking at the scenery while getting shot at.

Awesome! Have been waiting for C-47 / Li-2 ... well since Ju-52 :) ... Going to buy after I submit this message.

As a server operator, a small (but huge to us) quality of life improvement request to @Jason_Williams
Please make the jumping paratroopers give out log entries that can be tracked back to the plane that dropped them. Currently the paratrooper's AType:18 log line PARENTID points to nothing. Another, when I'm at it: Give us a log line when the paratrooper lands (with status dead/alive, and coordinates). Currently we have to use triggers to detect the landings, and with those we cannot credit the pilot that made the drop.

This!!

Make Gooney dual-control please. We attempted in 46, but result was imperfect (some gauges did not sync). Oh, and preordered faster than I could read first post. You have some mighty fine partners in all this.

As to US pilot training mentioned: the US also had some experimental rush programs. I had a friend in one of those (P-51 track) and, after several students died in taxi accidents, he was relieved to see the program cancelled. He ended up as a combat engineer during the 2nd Normandy landings. Years later, he was grilled for turning in the 'wrong' M-1. His reply: 'I dropped it in the Channel, and the next guy didn't need his anymore.' Their response: 'Sorry sir; we won't bother you anymore.' The Naval Test Pilot School used to contract a Mustang to throw variety at the students. Frank always beat me to the parking lot.

One big difference between the Hurricane and C-47 is the degree of progress.  The Hurricane started from ground zero.  The C-47 already has a flight model, damage model, and external 3d model.  I am guessing that the FM and DM will be changed somewhat, and there are external differences between the C-47 and Li-2.  Regardless, the C-47 is much further along at time of announcement than the Hurricane.

At least that's my optimistic point of view.

I know they said there would be no Li-2 but I'm hoping that once the C-47 is released they will find the time to add the gunner positions and bomb racks while maintaining the cargo options. ?

My understanding from years ago that to do the aircraft justice they'd have to do the full flight model anyways. Perhaps it does need a bit of a tweak but I would guess that the job is mostly done. So... piling on with some optimism :)

Maybe they meant the AI version?   I thought I saw that when they first announced the C-47.

If I am wrong I couldn't be happier.  I have PLANS for the Li-2!

LI-2 will be coming after the C-47 as a separate aircraft.

It's in the announcement that the Li-2 will be offered for pre-order once work on it has begun. Not just an AI aircraft in this case.

The Li-2 will be a welcome addition to our Eastern Front themed titles. We will offer the Li-2 for Pre-Order as soon as work has officially begun in earnest.

Hi @Jason_Williams, will the C-47 model have radar antennae on the fuselage sides just below cockpit window? IIRC these were associated with EUREKA homing system.

It would be nice to have such elettronic system as a prelude of more complex working radar.

As i understand its not posible to give points to a pilot for drobbing parachute in a game server to day ....?

It will be great to do in the future ?

Dear gents,

Any news about the C-47? It was out for Pre-order a long time ago, and since May, I haven't heard any news nor any development update. For how long should we wait until we get any news or the actual plane gets released?

I remember the cockpit was almost finished by May and the rest of the model was already almost done, since this was a playable adaptation of an already existing AI plane.

At this point I feel like I'm really missing something, or this should have been mentioned/updated/released some time ago.

Thanks very much!!

Oh, that's great news, at least we have a ballpark figure for a release estimate then.

Hoping it does not get too much delayed from that, can't wait to fly the Dakota :)
Thanks a bunch bud!!

This is a great decision.

I can see flying supplies back and forth from England to various bases on the continent, land, rearm/refuel...fly a VIP or supplies to a different base etc with lots of interesting/varying clouds and weather. Good stuff.

Flying supplies from Henderson up the slot to forward bases at Vella La Vella etc will be even better. ?

Indeed, and getting bounced by me in my A6M2N would be even better than that...

That's probably an add on to be included as c47 weapon loadout. Like female pilots for the uv2s. Modelling sugestions: after BB, CC, or a Tatcher if the going gets tough.

Just pre-ordered the C-47A. I hope some shiny metal vintage airline skins are made.
