Discussion of C-47 Pre-Order and Li-2, Snipe and SS.D.DIV Plans.

Yep Roland would be nice too!

Yes, well it has always really been a debate between the Roland and the SSW D.IV as to which of the final generation of fighters would be worth modelling. I know that both were considered (and even partly modelled) very early on in Rise of Flight's development. The Roland has a neat clinker built wooden fuselage and arguable higher performance and in-service numbers... but the SSW was said to have the best harmonised controls. Hopefully these two will sell well enough to justify additional WWI collector planes :) That way there is a small chance we might get to pitch them against each other in a fly-off someday!

P.S. If you don't give the version number I might think it is the Roland D.IIa you are referring to. I always thought the Roland D.II, Airco D.H.5, and Morane AI would make an interesting set - mid-war fighters that served in substantial numbers, but only for a limited number of months due to changing technology and/or quirky characteristics.

Pre-ordered

A little extra variant for the Li 2 would be nice.

Since british paratroopers have been confirmed is it possible the Li-2 could get soviet paratroopers in the future?

Nice!

How Li-2 was aiming when dropping bombs? Was Li-2 fitted with bombsight or just shallow dive and hope for the best?

Li-2 for me!

Looks cooler, has more opportunities than the C-47, and has a top gunner so that I stand a lesser chance of being shot down than the C-47.

But the C-47 is still a great plane.

Li-2 had pretty primitive collimator bombsight, on early versions bomber-navigator had to stick out of cockpit to aim.

Pips wishes to make a gift to some members of our squadron (CCG), in order to leave no one on the side of the road, during our future flights over Normandy or Arhnem ?

Cool! Pre-order completed!

I don't fly transports often (Ju52 is a bit slow for my limited patience) but they are wonderful planes for a relaxing flight before going to bed.

It will also be very cool once we build large scale paratrooper missions with lots of flak. Looking forward to recreating those epic scenes from Band of Brothers, Call of Duty, and other representations of pre-invasion drops.

C-47 pre-ordered with lightning speed. Carefully camouflaged among various household orders previously agreed with the wife. Just in case...

I'm utterly fascinated by the following Jason's quotes:

- "All of these new planes do not have an impact on current development timelines for BON or FC2 and FC3."

- "This plane will be a challenge to make as references are tough to come by, and we don't believe any original examples survive today. However, we love a good challenge and plan to make this bird take flight just like all the rest."

As some have already commented, FC3 & PTO totally confirmed?

Hey Jason send to UGRA Media the plans for He111H16/R1 or H111H20 for late war scenario Luftwaffe bomber/transport. Easy money.

" The Li-2 had different engines and cowlings, different instruments, a different cargo door and other small changes. Some also had a dorsal mounted gun turret for self-defense. "

Are the bomb rack/aiming/release options included in the "other small changes"? Just making sure I am not getting excited about best bomber in glorious Soviet Republics prematurely.

Polish Aviation Museum has a fuselage of experimental plane developed from last surviving SS D.IV in 1920s, the Albatros H.1. Based on description, it differed from SS D.IV by having different wings (missing anyway), prop, rudder and elevator. It even has the Sh-3a engine still onboard (?).

The last SS D.IV was given to Deutsche Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt, which ordered the high altitude version from Albatros. DVL was not bombed in WW2, so if they did any research to develop it into experimental plane, it might have survived?
