The lock itself turns off after a few seconds(key F4)

Hello problem with turning off the lock (F4 key) looking at the enemy from the cockpit. For some types of aircraft, it shuts down after a few seconds. Will it be solved or where is the problem? Thank you B.

note :

I lock the enemy with the F4 key, and for some types of aircraft, the lock will turn off on its own after a few seconds, it will not remain locked.

Press F1 to get back to looking straight.

You didn't understand. I don't want a direct view, but to have a locked opponent, but the lock turns off on my own, so I keep pressing F4 and it keeps turning off. I ask why the view is still not locked and why it switches itself off after a few seconds.

Try F8 instead of F4.

The F8 keyboard is for outdoor viewing. But I need a locked view from the cockpit is and it is F4, but just below this keyboard is another option to set the optional keyboard locked view - forward    :)

Padlock will lose the lock if the enemy aircraft gets obstructed even for a short period of time even i cases where you could expect pilot to easily keep tracking in real life. Nothing you can do about that.

I don't understand what you mean, you probably don't understand me. It's a simple view from the cockpit, F4 focuses on the enemy and sometimes after a while the lock turns off, the view is directly in front of me to the center of the crosshairs and I have to use the F4 key repeatedly to lock the opponent in view directly at him and it's not so that it turned sharply out of sight of the cabin ... I'm just wondering if the lock also shuts down on someone spontaneously, with the old IL-2 1946 it didn't happen to me in other flight sims either. , that is why I ask. And in reality, if the enemy is in sight from the cabin, I would watch him.

Sorry, wrong sim!

I'm talking about CoD Blitz and Tobruk. I gave IL-2 1946 only as an example, that the lock works there and does not turn off by itself.

You're not alone, Buffo002, I've seen the same problem, intermittently.  The padlock was switching off for no apparent reason, even with the target in plain sight, not obscured by a canopy frame or other piece of structure.  It seems to have cured itself lately and has been working perfectly the past few days.  As no one other than you and I are seeing this issue, I'm wondering if perhaps the source of my problem could be the joystick switch I've mapped to F4.  Have you tried engaging padlock by just pressing F4 directly on the keyboard?

Thank you very much, I wanted to know if the lock goes off for someone else. But the fact is that after the last update, the lock is quite stable and the target stays locked for a long time and does not turn off as before ... the point is that I do not have so much time to watch it in detail, so I just asked. Thank you very much for the answer and I'll take a look and try again :)

Well Buffo002, the problem has come back for me, and after some brief testing, I think I've found the cause.  It's not a malfunctioning joystick button, it's whether or not your a/c's mirror is activated.  Like you, I'm updated to v5.021.

The test mission I used is the single player Quick Mission Red One-on-One in the Tobruk terrain.  Target is a He 111 H-2 Trop.  With mirror OFF, engage padlock as the bomber comes into range, and pull up and in behind as it passes.  Follow at a discrete distance, for one or two minutes, doing "S" turns to place the target at various positions in front of you from nine o'clock to three o'clock.  Restart the mission, this time with mirror ON, and compare results.

Flying the Spit Vb Trop, Hurri IIa Trop, Kittyhawk Mk Ia Trop, Tomahawk MkII Trop and Martlett III Trop, I see no problem with mirrors OFF.  With mirrors ON, the padlock will spontaneously disengage from time to time, not necessarily while the mirror is visible, but often shortly after the mirror has passed through the line of sight.  No problems were seen flying the Gladiator II Trop or the Beaufighter Ic Trop, which have no mirrors.

When time permits, give this a try and let us know if you see the same pattern.  It's not a big issue for me, as I generally fly TIR5, but I'm curious to see if it's unique to my installation.

Regards,

It works if I have the mirrors turned off, thank you for the advice. :)

You're welcome Buffo002, and thanks for confirming it's not just me that has the mirror/padlock issue.  No idea what the linkage is between the two;  perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can explain it...

Hey @Buzzsaw

It looks like the mirrors are affecting padlock negatively. Seems to be a bug to be looked at.

The mirror (or the sight) was a red herring. There actually was a bug concerning the 'out of sight' in 'loosing the the padlock when the object is out of sight for a certain period'. Will be fixed with the next patch (028).

Thanks FG28Artist, I just installed patch 028, repeated the test scenario I'd described earlier in this thread, and can confirm the loss of padlock problem is fixed.  Nicely done by all involved.
