CCG_bexhausted Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) >>> What is Tobii Eye Tracking 4C (aka TBE4C) Here the web site (the new generation is Tobii Eye Tracking 5) : https://gaming.tobii.com >>>What can I expect from TBE4C in IL2 BOS ? You will have a 3 DOF controller. No translation, no up / down, no zoom as Track IR. But you can use the hot keys END - DEL, PAGE UP PAGE DOWN, INSER HOME to do the same. As TRACK IR TBE4C manages head tracking but also eye tracking. That is the main difference. And absolute nothing on your head. >>> How to make TBE4C work with IL2 BOS (and other games) ? You need to download Tobii Game Hub which will manage the interface between the games and TBE4C. You can only play in "joystick" mode in IL2 BOS. IMPORTANT NOTE VJoy is no longer needed >>> Quick Settings To make it simple 3 parameters will allow you to adjust the behavior of TBE4C : 1- In TBE4C for the gaze: Speed and Inflection point 2 -In TBE4C Head Tracking 3- In BOS the sensitivity of the HEAD PILOT vertical and horizontal parameters Let's look at this in detail. >>> Gaze Tracking Settings Here is the interface of Tobii Eye Tracking : And here are my settings: Responsivness 100 % ( by default it was 30 %). This setting influences all other settings in Gaze Settings. Same settings for head tracking. Next are details : The two settings you need to play with to make your experience comfortable are the two yellow and orange settings. >> Orange = Speed Easy to understand The higher this setting, the faster the camera will follow your gaze. >> Yellow Parameter that is paramount when zooming in. It's a dead zone that determines the threshold at which the camera will start to follow your gaze. Without it it will be impossible for you to stare. And that's it! Let's move on to head tracking >>> Head Tracking in Direct Mode and Responsiveness set at 100 %. Very easy : >>> Settings in IL2 BOS As for the axes of your joystick you can adjust the sensitivity of the vertical and horizontal axes. This can allow you to adjust the response of TBE4C even more finely. >>>Last settings : shortcut keys to start/stop TBE4C and view centering. >>> Trouble shootings with Turrets in planes and tanks When TBE4C is running the turrets no longer respond to the mouse. I solved this problem by adding in BOS a key (mapped on my joystick) that I hold down to be able to move the view with the mouse. Maybe there's a better solution? >>> TBE4C and light : I find TBE4C not very sensitive to the light environment. I use it under the same conditions as ED Tracker (which is completely insensitive to light). What TBE4C does not like : -complete absence of light -a lighting that's too asymmetrical. Let me explain. I have a window on my right (90-degree exactly). When the sun hits the window directly and I turn my head to this side TBE tends to stall, i.e. it fails to reach the extreme position on this side. Just pull the semi-transparent curtains to attenuate the excess light and everything goes back to normal. >>> After one year of use what is my opinion on TBE4C? I was using Ed Tracker Wireless Pro which works without IR LEDs thanks to gyroscopes. Light-insensitive and no stalling when picking up your pencil that fell on the ground! But it broke down and while waiting for it to be repaired I tried TBE4C... which I still use even though my Ed Tracker is back from repair. Why ? It's purely subjective but I find the experience more immersive. At first what is confusing is the combination of eye and head movements. But you get used to it very quickly. However I will not recommend TBE version 4C (maybe version 5 is faster as announced) to pure hunters because the latency to turn one's gaze in extreme positions is slower than with Ed Tracker and I assume also with Track IR. As I only fly by ground attack, it doesn't bother me in the least. I also use TBE in DCS which recognizes it natively. As a result I didn't have to make any settings. Even better in DCS the translation when you look behind is managed automatically. I also use TBE for its integration with Windows. For example : -with facial recognition system for identification. TBE also knows how to put your PC to sleep when you leave or wake it up when you approach it (before you even sit down!). -to select an item from an extensive menu with a single glance. -you can also select the software with a simple glance among several already open that you want with the key combination ALT + TAB that you keep pressed. -TBE 4C instantaneously moves the mouse cursor to the precise place you are looking at. Ok it's not necessary but it's fun! In the end TBE 4C is an original experience of which I particularly appreciate the freedom: no wire, nothing to connect before launching IL2 BOS, good immersion in the game. But the experience could be different for someone else. Edited July 20, 2020 by CCG_bexhausted 1 1
trigolar Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Hi, what exactly do you mean, when you say "VJoy is no longer needed". In the latest version of GameHub it tells me to install jVoy. Can I deinstall vJoy and configure IL-2 without it in GameHub? Just asking because I cannot get headtracking to work with my Eyetracker 5 and IL-2. thanks Stefan
CCG_bexhausted Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 Yes I confirm it: VJoy is not used anymore with Il2.
Beaucn01 Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 it matters not seemingly... https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016064914 Removed support for vJoy games due to instability issues and discontinued developer support. This impacts IL2-Sturmovik & Farming Simulator 15. i have switched over playing this game in vr on a reverb g2 more recently but now having lost this ability is disappointing... maybe they could switch using the SimConnect protocol like MS Flight Simulator X (in the same release notes) unless people can confirm it still works?
CCG_bexhausted Posted February 24, 2021 Author Posted February 24, 2021 I haven't used VJoy for months and the game works perfectly with TOBII. It seems to me that it works even better without VJoy. There's a new version of TOBII game hub that I haven't tested yet because it involves redoing all the settings. Maybe it would solve your problems ?
Cub_1 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 There is now a new version of Tobii Game Hub 2.3.1 but IL2 Box is'nt listed as a supported game as yet in this version. You need to roll back to the previous version of Game Hub which now doesn't need Vjoy in order to work. I am running Tobii Eyetracker 5 along side FaceTrackNoIR as an alternative with no problems. Hopefully the Il2 devs will fully support Tobii 5 in the near future.
drhippensteel Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Just starting here and I was wondering if track IR is supported in the game. I looked through the setting and couldn't find anything to have the game recognize it.
[CPT]Crunch Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Yes, fully supported, should be good go, built in by purpose.

CCG_bexhausted Posted April 24, 2021 Author Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) The latest version supporting IL2 BOX is version 1.6.4. which works without third party software. For versions 2.x it is necessary to use a software triers : Edited April 24, 2021 by CCG_bexhausted
FrankRed999 Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I already did some research here in the forum and figured out that I need vJoy and an older version of Tobii Game Hub (TobiiGameHub.1.6.4). But everything failed so fare to make it run in Il2. The Tobii support is not really able to help. Another try with FaceTrackNoIR was a failure too. Does someone have any kind of information / experience how to use Tobii Eye Tracker 5 (or 4c) in IL 2? I would appreciate it very much. (I just posted this topic also in another sub forum. Sorry for that. It fits here better) 1
Remontti Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I have absolutely no idea but I remember that there was a topic about it while ago. Here it is. Hope it helps.
FrankRed999 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Thanks for the link. I read this post on Tuesday and followed the proposals. Unfortunately nothing helped. I' wondering if the Tobii Eye Tracker works at all with IL2 BOS. If not, I should return it.?
CCG_bexhausted Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) You need version 1.6.4 of TobiiGameHub but not Vjoy at all (only once during the initialization of the software. I have a Tobii Eye 4 and it works perfectly as you can see on this video when I was playing with my friends (in french). My plane was severely hit : Edited July 30, 2022 by CCG_bexhausted
FrankRed999 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 (edited) After reinstalling everything new it is now - thanks god - working. I'm using TobiiGameHub.1.6.4 and vjoy. I skipped this time an optional installation part of vjoy. Perhaps this caused the trouble. Or it has now no effect like you, CCG_bexhausted, mentioned it Thanks for your help! CCG_bexhausted Posted June 13, 2021 Author Posted June 13, 2021 I have a tip that works very well for me. In Tobii Game Hub cancel the head tracking to keep only the eye tracking active. In game you keep both head tracking and eye tracking but with considerably more accuracy by using the maximum zoom. Give it a try!
Iceni_Queen Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Where can I get ver 1.6.4? Just got an eye tracker as I don;t want to use heavy head sets. How can I get my Tobi Eye tracker 5 to work with IL2? How do you get it to work? Help please? I have exactly the same issue. Have Tobii 5, 1.6.4 and vjoy installed. I can adjust settings in Tobii Experience for IL2-BOS but it will not do anything in game. I tried the FaceTrack way and it does work but it occasionally just stops, FaceTrack that is. I have been away from il2 for along time and coming back, I cant remember if there are any view settings in game that need to be tweaked or set a certain way. Any help would be great.

Select configure then Select Free View under Gaze Tracking Settings All other settings to your liking. Cant believe it took me days to figure this out.... must be getting old...lol
Jammer603 Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Using version 1.6.4 Tobii 5 works fine in IL2 (still tweaking the settings, especially sensitivity) but I don’t have head movement side-to-side or head forward-and-back ability (like I have with TrackIr). Instead I have to bind controller buttons to keyboard DELETE, END, etc. Does anyone else have this issue?
Iceni_Queen Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 (edited) Cannot, for the life of me, get my eye tracker to work with IL-2. Are you clicking on IL2 under My Installed Games? The only difference from my setup seems to be that I chose Extended View rather than Free View because it seems a bit more responsive. That's about the limit of my knowledge. I'm still trying to achieve 6 degrees of freedom but no joy so far. Good luck!
Stevie777 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 So it works pretty well with Eyetracknoir (6dof). But it does only headtracking like IR5 for example. Has anybody got eyetracking working when using Tracknoir?
