Having to get on board a moving ship is not always easy... however!

What I thought was interesting was how easily he got back on the raider...without scorching it?.

@raaaid this might be your best option for getting on a cruise ship...

I've had to board ships at sea in good and also rough weather from inflatables, RIBs etc... it can be dangerous in any condition, but the tactical implications of this test exercise are immense!

Nothing like a bunch of obnoxiously loud jets, to complete a stealthy operation. ?

If you are standing on the bridge wing of a large ship doing 12 to 16 knots, it's noisy anyway... ships crews were pirated often in the Gulf of Aden, with the crew still working on deck and hadn't even noticed the approach of a very fast and loud pirate skiff with two large engines doing 30 knots until the pirates had climbed up the side of the ship and had taken them prisoner...

And by the way, fast roping from a helicopter onto the deck of a pirated ship is as noisy as you can get, and yet it has been done.

Naval boarding parties approach pirate 'mother' ships and board them from RIB's, highly dangerous, lots of risk and yet it is done.

Remember, this was a test and evaluation exercise to see if it was feasible...

it would be cooler if they could shoot from the air theyre a bit of an easy target

Yeah, I thought the same thing, though even if you had your hands free, it isn't exactly a stable shooting platform. And recoil would be a bit of an issue.

You are right. When you are comparing it to other options, it makes a lot of sense. :good:

More than one use for this tech, same machine/company,

PS, I want that job!

The jet pack is $443,000 if you want one.

Flight Club - Gravity Industries

Also, re the Marine trial, pretty sure they won't be flying in in broad daylight on ops, more like under NVG's..... Not quite such an easy target....
