Pre-ordered a Vive Pro 2 this afternoon. Hopefully my experience with that one will be better.

I certainly would think it would.

Nice thing about the Vive Pro for me should I decide to get one later, I already have the two Lighthouses trackers and the Knuckles controllers.

So would only have to get the headset. But I will wait a while for now, been doing too much spending of late.

Oh well. At least now you know (and the rest of us thanks to you) that it is not ready yet. Good luck with the Vive Pro2, it may not be Varjo, but it definitely will be better.

I just tested the XR-3 today.

They ran several demos on it for us.

It was very sharp as you describe but their demos were not sharp enough in the texture department to take advantage of the headset.  It didn't look much better than the G2 with the demos they showed.

It had major chromatic aberration much worse than my G2 which suffers some from that.

There was a crazy geometry warp at the edge so when your turned your head the very edge of view has a ripple that kind of warps in.  Now looking super close the edge on my G2 is do notice a tiny area of geometry warp I never noticed until I saw this on the XR-3 but the warp on the XR-3 was super obvious and like 5% from the edge not 2% and small.  The blending was much better than you describe from inside to outside screens though so maybe they fixed that.  Tracking was fine with 2 LH.  The XR was pretty cool in some of the demos.

After I told them the textures in their demos weren't doing the display justice one of the team put on and autocad car model renderer that was SUPER sharp and the textures there were enough to finally show off the display and it was very impressive in the center.

The chromatic aberration was only crazy noticeable with white text on black but it must be effecting sharpness throughout.   Still pretty impressive but can't imagine any current rig running it without foveated rendering.  I'd just like to have foveated rendering in the center if they can't get all software to work with the eye tracking.

Also love to have SLI working with VR.  They promised us...

Glad I found this review.

Very helpful.

Thanks you went all out getting that for home use!
