Yaw2 Kickstarter, Pitch 70º & Roll 60º for 1090$

I only recently found out about the YAW2.

After that I consumed most of what you can read about it and watch on youtube.

What's next? Is there anything new?

How long will the estimated delivery take if you order now?

When is the official start of sales?

I would like to know how many of the hardware resources are occupied by YAW2.

Do I need a new system? Do more processor cores and higher RAM help?

The YAW2 shouldn't have any influence on the graphics card, should it?

Will it be a difficult setup? Will IL2 GB work seamlessly with the YAW2? Or do I need special computer and programming skills?

I wish those who have ordered that they will receive their YAW2 soon and that they will have a lot of fun with it.

And I look forward to the first detailed testimonials because I am also planning to buy a YAW2.

Just checking in with our Yaw2 Kickstarter crew to see what you are hearing regarding delivery and reviews if any have made it into the wild yet?  I have been checking Google & YouTube over the past couple of weeks without results other than the new Yaw sponsored video below.  :gamer:

I think they have only made and shipped 12 so far as they work through refining their production process. One guy in Spain who received one of the first units has been posting photos and short videos on the “Yaw VR 2 Unofficial” Facebook group, and also in the “Yaw VR Motion Simulator” Discord channel, which is the better discussion. Today Yaw also posted a video to the Yaw 2 Kickstarter page, demonstrating how to attach the optional plates and side rails they provide.

It’s a bit of a mixed bag since it would appear we may need to DIY how we attach our peripherals. Rudder pedals will attach easily, as well as throttle to the optional side rail -  but center-mounted joystick will likely require some DIY. I’m displeased that Yaw appears to have abandoned a quick-release mechanism for easily detaching the footpad assembly so the entire poles and footpad can rest in the chair when not in use. That is now attached via two bolts, which makes storing the chair in a small space more challenging.

Still, I am patiently waiting for their next update in two weeks (!) when they say they will address the status of the Pro version (which I pledged) and the heave platform (which I also pledged).

Although I just cancelled my preorder to free up funds to order the Aero, I wanted to post here that my experience with Yaw's Customer Service regarding my order was great.  When I let them know that I had decided to cancel my order, 2 of their reps were back in touch with me within 24 hours and they had the funds back to my credit card within 72 hours.  No hassles or "salesmanship" at all and both reps were very polite and understanding.

Once their deliveries of the Pro version start for those outside of the Kickstarter backers, I hope to be back as a customer.

I wish they would bring back the Yaw 1. It did almost everything the Yaw 2 did  and a bit cheaper.

Just checking in here to see how the delivery status is going for our Kickstarter group?  I am looking forward to hearing about first hand Yaw 2 experiences of those I trust here.

Me, too- they have started shipping Pro models correction: they have emailed some Pro backers they will ship soon, but my backer number is in the low 600s. So far I don’t know of anyone who has received their Yaw 2s posting any videos of flying IL-2. I’ll be eager to see those, as well as hope someone has refined a profile for IL-2 by the time I get my Yaw 2 Pro as early as October

A few folk who have received their standard Yaw2 chairs are starting to post their experimenting. The video below from the DCS P-47 is so far the closest I can find to our use in this game, and he just figured out how to get yaw working.

There will be fine tuning and sharing of game profiles that should dial in the best use of telemetry data (or joystick emulation plug ins for those games that do not provide telemetry data, such as Star Wars Squadrons).

He has limited yaw motion to just 15° each direction, something I expect to also do when I receive my own Yaw 2 Pro someday later this year. My experience over the past two years with my Next Level Racing  motion platform v3 has shown me that very little chair movement in VR creates the sensation of much larger, realistic motion.

Any updates from our Yaw2 Kickstarter supporters on delivery and/or experience in IL2?

I haven't yet seen anyone play IL-2 in a Yaw2, and there appear to be something like 50 Yaw2s delivered world wide so far.

I, too, am eager for some IL-2 Yaw2 footage and hope I won't be the first to try it, especially since my Kickstarter backer # is in the 600s ?

Charlo - I just saw your post in the other thread that they are delivering quickly to new orders but they seem to be dragging their feet with regards to their KickStarters.  Did I read that correctly, and if so, do you feel that says something about the company's treatment of customers?

I may be thinking about a motion rig again in 2024, and am starting to consider the options again.  So, I was distressed to read your post that you are still waiting at 500 down the list since I would love to see someone here talk about flying a Yaw2.  I am sure my disappointment that you haven't gotten it yet pales to yours. :(

Hi @Varibraun, I think I am more patient than some of the other Kickstarter backers because I have my Next Level Racing  motion platform v3 to keep me immersed in my IL-2 flying.

As far as I can tell, the people at Yaw are good folk making the best they can out of a challenging situation. They are based in Hungary, so the situation in their part of the world has complicated their efforts. I met a few of the employees in San Diego two years ago at the Flight Sim Expo. there, and I was impressed with them and the product they had at the time.

I could opt in to paying the difference of my Kickstarter pledge and what a new Yaw2 would cost on their website, but I prefer to wait and see how well their product develops as I continue to use my Next Level Racing  motion platform v3.

Now is a really tough time to decide on a motion rig. My gaming space is too limited for most of the motion rig options available right now, another reason I have stuck with my "butt mover" for now and holding out for the Yaw2 I might get someday at the Kicksterter pledge price I paid something like two years ago ?

Ahh...glad to hear they have that option available, and I appreciate your detailed response.  We will see what next year may hold for me, but I am glad the Yaw2 remains a viable option.  I think for me right now it would be a DOF or Yaw2 which both seem to be in a more "reasonable" price point.

This is so far my story:

4-May-2021: I backed the project (YAW2 PRO with just pitch and roll). Back number in 600-700 range. Estimated delivery was Sep-2021!
6-June-2021: The KS campaign exceded their funding goals with 2.7 million$ and 1282 backers
7-June-2021: They charged to my card 1590$ (1351€) including delivery to Spain.
16-June-2021: I answered the questionarie for backers giving all details and preferences.
July-Dec-2021: Project updates #25 to #50. Many improvements, new options, etc, etc
24-Jan-2022: First 2 units shipped out to first backers.
2-Feb-2022: They requested me to pay the VAT (21%) since I am an individual in the EU, not a company. The KS didn´t included VAT.
29-April-2022: They resumed shipping and "additional" units were shipped out to backers.
27-May-2022: They said 30 units were shipped so far. Shipping mothly plan was 30(May),30,50,100,150,200,300,300(Dec) Total:1160
22-Jul-2022: 78 devices were shipped out so far. (below the plan that was 110)
28-Oct-2022: 68 devices built along October. 7% of units so far were sent to strategic partners (non-backers).
25-Nov-2022: To date, 131 devices has been shipped (May plan was 860 for Nov) and there's a stock of 120 devices
9-Dec-2022: The chips shortage, materials and energy prices increases and Ukranie war are affecting their performance. They suspend refunds.
11-Jan-2023: Produced 60 devices and shipped 60 devices. From this, 20 went to backers and 40 to non-backers.
7-Apr-2023: ship only a few or no Kickstarter devices for the upcoming 2-3 months. Working to relocate production capacity in Asia
10-Apr-2023: I requested to be in the refund waiting list.
5-May-2023: They consider Paying Extra to Ship Kickstarter Devices Earlier
7-July-2023: all profits from this new product (Infuse VR) will be used for Kickstarter deliveries and refunds
4-Aug-2023: more than 100 backers signed up to pay extra for a quicker delivery, these deliveries will start lower numbers

and from last update

2-Oct-2023: We can't report a breakthrough yet, but while we are optimistic that our sales results will ramp up and that the Infuse VR release could also bring some extra revenue, it's possible that we'll raise a small amount of money (unfortunately it's really only a small amount) in 1-2 months, and if we do, we'll spend most of it on Kickstarter shipments. We will update you on this later.

The decision for me to request the refund was simply because I am not sure how many years more we will need to wait, but I also not sure about how good it could be to increase inmersion for flying. Clearly they didn´t know how complex is to produce 1000 devices and cover warranty. And we backers, how naive we were as well.

Just an small update about my pending refund (1590$) from Yaw people, I wrote them about the refund and the answers were:

April-2023:

thank you for your e-mail!
We'll add you to the list and as soon as we reopen the refunds, we'll keep you informed and collect information for the process.
Thank you for your understanding!

Nov-2024:

Thanks for contacting us!
Unfortunately, our current situation doesn't allow us to give refunds to all our backers, but we will of course do our best to do so as soon as possible.

yes, we are now working on a capital injection, the contract has been signed and due diligence is underway. If we can close the investment in November, we will be able to accelerate the delivery and refunds to our backers .

Thank you for your understanding, and your patience.
I will contacted you soon,
