Is this still working properly after the most recent update? It used to work very well via duet on my iPad but now is very buggy.

All good since the update

Yes, it is working fine on my PC (dual monitors), but now sadly my (very) old Android 4 device isn't able to run it anymore.
The 0.64 version isn't compatible with Android 4 according to Google Play.
At least I can still use this old phone as a small screen for Simhub dashes.

My friend, where can I download it?

Google Play doesn't have it, it's only v0.63

Yes, this link from 1st post seems to show .63, but Blorg states on his Discord "Android version in beta, make sure you sign up for it in Google Play." - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DellyWellySoftware.Il2Dials&ah=3rBoID2w3KY9Ax_Hf78QA8AJO9c&pli=1

I don't use Android so YMMV...

Yes Google Play keep moaning at me to update the minimum android version for security reasons, stating they will remove the app from the store if I don't comply. It's annoying. Once the app is stable and working again I will release a separate version for older androids from the itch page

I have now pushed the beta version to production so those not on the beta branch on Google Play, look out for an update :)

Hello, how to 'landscape' the gauges page on my tablet?

Thanks.

Hello, I have a Quick mission running in the windowed mode, Il-2 Dials Server v.064 says it's Waiting for game on the PC, Il-2 Dials on the tablet says: WAITING FOR MISSION START, the bottom right light is green. I pick SPAD XIII.C1 in the menu, then push the check mark, it turns the guages page -90 degrees on the screen and nothing else is happening. What's next?

Thanks.

The steps I would try are as follows:

  1. Load il-2 until you see the menu screen with the plane in the hangar
  2. Tab out and run il-2 server.exe, wait until you see the star turn green
  3. Run il-2 dials client, wait until you see the green light in the bottom right

Then load a mission in the sim. Dials will do the rest. The dials app should automatically figure out landscape/portrait so just place the tablet how you like.

The menu where you choose the plane in the app is only if you want to reconfigure the dials (move position / hide etc)

Good luck!

Progress Report:

Water temps (as far as I know) are working again and on the new system, hurrah! I will keep going and fix the carb air temps and check cylinder heads too (all the temperature dtuff basically) and then release the update. Perhaps if I do this quickly enough I will fix the turn co-ordinators too, it would be really nice to have the app back to a fully functioning state!
That last game update really did some damage.

Thanks for the great support and patience, IL-2 Dials Community ? ? ?️

Happy Flying!

Hi @Blorg! Can you please export a web version from Unity, so we could access the dials from an iPhone or iPad

Posted

Hi Vadim, I have tried to do this, but the way the app talks to the network/wifi isn't allowed in a browser unfortunately :( I have looked in to other alternatives for this but it will be a large re-write of the existing code.
If you look through this discussion, other users have found using "Duet" (I think!) is a solution that is working. As a non apple user that's all I know. Good luck :)

Hm, is the project open source? I'm a front end dev myself, maybe I could look at the server repo and see what options are available for a web app to connect

Posted (edited)

It is open source, and would be very happy to receive assistance!
https://github.com/itsjustdel/IL2-Dials-Client/blob/main/Assets/Scripts/Network/UDPClient.cs

This is the client fetcher. It's definitely not the best, pretty much still on the first iteration, so all improvements are very welcome.

I'm looking to update the c++ server to something more modern than winsock too, I just haven't had the time (doing a tech test for a job as we speak).
https://github.com/itsjustdel/IL2-Dials-Server/blob/main/Il2ServerAppLateNight/Il2ServerAppLateNight/src/Server/Server.cpp

I'd like to have a simple json structure in the future rather than the byte steam I have at the moment.

Reference for why my current solution doesn't work at the moment, feel free to DM me :)

ok, let me investigate the repo first to get a basic understanding whether my scarce knowledge of unity and cs is enough to be of any help ?

If any brave testers with older android

Good afternoon.

I don't know if this information was useful to you. I tested this on Android 4.4.2.

It works!
Unfortunately, I don’t have an older Android ((

----

I also want to ask.
I don't see devices for new Spitfire IXC

Is it just me, or can this be fixed?

----

And further.

On Spitfire XIV.e (bubble top), the oil and water temperature data differ.

In the cockpit it is higher, and on the tablet it is lower.

My IL2DIALS - v0.65

Sincerely.

Thanks for the info Sayan. I'll need to update the app to include the new planes. You could perhaps try to load the mission then choose to "edit" an existing spitfire layout. The data might show on another plane ;)

I'll have a look at the spitfire oil and water being different, althoiti do not have the plane. If anyone from 1C is listening... Wink wink!

I took a mission from IX.c, turned on the display of instruments from IX.e on the tablet, the page opened, but when I tried to save, everything disappeared.
Well, okay.

No need to worry.

I'm flying on instruments in the cockpit for now, and will wait for the next version.

Sincerely.

I tried the P-40 with a new engine (1942), and noticed that the boost was displayed incorrectly on the tablet.

Everything is correct on the old engine.

A "readme" that was promised would be helpful, I have no idea what I am suppose to do with this stuff, not all of us are wizards.  Is there a detailed 'how to install' anywhere and what to configure?  I really only want this for the crappy UK compass which you may be able to read in a real plane but cannot in a sim.

****Found instructions on Dangerdogz, not hard once it is explained, not sure why this could not be done here.  For anyone else, here is how you do it (quoted from Sid):

Once I had asked a couple of questions and sussed out a couple of things the installation is a breeze.

Download the 'Windows Server' and the 'Windows Client' from the links.

Install the server, I put it on a drive of my choosing, and it creates a folder called 'IL-2 Dials' and a desktop shortcut.

Unzip the client to the 'IL-2 Dials'  folder (I got rid of one of the folders that are unzipped and brought the files up a folder level...might not need to do it but it's me tidying up)

I created a desktop shortcut of the 'IL-2 Dials' application found in the client folder.

Run the server. Click on the settings icon in the bottom left corner and tick the 'Local Client (IP 127.0.0.1). This needs to be done if you are using the two screens on the same computer.

Run the client. Tick the 'Don't show me again' reminder about downloading the server, click on the bars at the bottom and click the wireless button. Where it says 'Automatic Scan' enter in 127.0.0.1. Drag the box onto the second screen.

That's the setting up done. Run the game. When you start a mission, actually flying, the gauges appear in the client box.

Away you go!

####Well even after following the above I never got the 'automatic scan' just a port.  Cannot get this working, too much effort and it seemed to really bog down my FPS too.

Hello,
will there be the I.A.R. 80 added to the IL-2 Dials?
That would be great.
Thx for the great work!

Cheers

Hello Whisky,
There is one IAR 80 in there, but they added a 2nd right? I've not been playing the sim lately and have started a new job so I'm a bit tired at the weekends at the moment!

Dials has support for the A variant. Perhaps this broke with the addition of the second variant. You could try navigating to the A variant layout edit screen when in flight, sometimes you can get the app to display the flight data on the wrong plane if things line up enough. I'm hoping to set aside some time in the coming weekends to fix the app up.

IAR is in the Wehrmacht list because I'm lazy and didn't add the Romanian air force!

Version 0.66 is out, I uploaded the Android 4.4 version today to the itch.
I haven't got to the spitfire issues yet, I need to get the DLC. Peace

Hi Blorg, thanks for the update. Unfortunately the new version 66 stopped working on my (very) old android 5.
"Your device does not match the hardware requirements of this application".
Seems that there were some deep changes between 65 and 66 indeed or may be an option "forgotten or added by mistake" when compiling?
Cheers.

Posted (edited)

I believe the android version for dials .65 was 4.1, but this one is 4.4 (Still under 5). I'll have a look at the build options in case I missed something. I had to re-install all my old dependencies and was having a real fight to get it to build, but I figured out the workflow, so I can try an older version if I never missed something in the build/compilation options. Bear with me

Good luck

https://dellywelly.itch.io/il-2-dials-client-android (try the il2cpp version)

Thanks for trying. Unfortunately, same result.
Yes, I remember some versions ago I got the same message and then you've made a "special version".
EDIT: Last version (0.65) showed Android 4.1 on name (not 4.4). May be related - perhaps 4.4 requires something else.
