IL2 BoS - 120hz refresh rate issue - game won't start

I might be missing something obvious here but couldn't find any clear answers via a forum search. Hopefully someone has more information.

 

I'm running IL2 on a new desktop system with a 3090 GPU and 49" 1440p 60-120hz ultrawide. If I set the monitor's refresh rate to 120hz, which works fine in other titles, IL2 launches to a black screen and stops responding. I have to end the task via task manager. If I set the desktop refresh rate down to 60hz, the game starts (and performs) without any issues. 

 

Do we have any ideas on why this might be, including workarounds to force the game to run at 120hz?

@Crowgasm, in your game, in the graphics settings, what parameter does the fps limiter have?
