Searching for B-17 mod (to fly it) and campaign

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

coming back to the old game and fond of bombers, I remember flying heavies (B-17, B-29 and Lancaster).

Could it be possible for someone here to give me a link to flyable B-17 and some missions or campaigns?

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

in the SAS Mod BAT flyable B17 are included (I tried out a B17F or G):

In the standard dynamic campaign of the game there is only a medium /light bomber campaign for B25 / A20.

In general you can look here for WWII campaigns the the BAT Mod:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,269.0.html

If you want to use the game`s dynamic campaign generator you can try this additional modification (for BAT):

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,269.0.html

There is huge number of campaigns, maybe one for heavy bombers too, but I can not guarantee.

In the external campaign generator "IL2 Dynamic Campaign Generator" / IL2DCG by Paul Lowengrin I tried the Italy 43 campaign and selected a B17F as plane and I started the first mission for some minutes in a B17 with 15 others on an airfield and they began to take off.

This just for information for, I don't know if these campaigns are really suitable for heavy bombers but you can try it.

And there is an further IL2DCG campaign with heavy bombers too:

Best regards

The Blackbirds squadron used to fly B-17 missions.  Here is a memorial video which shows some of their aircraft.

Unfortunately, their website ( blackbirdssquadron.com ) appears to be down.  There are a couple members of the squadron who have posted to YouTube, in the past.  Here's one, but he hasn't posted a video in years.

You could check with members of the 352nd VFG (Pers, Deacon, Wheels) as well, as they used to fly frequent co-op missions with the BBs.  Best of luck!

Hello @ODonovan, @DN308

The Black Birds split into two groups in 2019 with the new group being formed as the Blue Jays. Actually a bit surprised to see the Blackbirds site is down since I do see them in the Great Battles mod server list when I am logging into the 352nd's mod server.

Anywhoo, the Blu Jays squadron link is the following;

https://www.thebluejayssquadron.com/index.html

Fairly certain they are still flying modded 1946 as well as Great Battles.
