Sybreed Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 (edited) Doing a HS-129 career right now, I thought the problem with AI focusing on AAA units was only with fighters doing ground attack missions like the FW-190 or Mig-3, but it seems all the ground attack planes have the same problem. I haven't tested bombers now, but perhaps someone else can help with that. Here's a screenshot of a mission recap. We had to attack a railway junction. Notice how my teammates only killed AAA units while I actually destroyed the target? It can become a big problem if I don't destroy all objectives with my bombs, which is what happened on that mission as well. Everyone kept strafing buildings to absolutely no effect because the bombs were used on AA trucks and guns. I really hope this will be fixed soon. Edited April 8, 2021 by Sybreed 1

It is even more absurd if you have to attack tanks. Your squadmates drop their bombs on the AAA, to then strafe the tanks with their guns. Attack supply convoys, your squadmates attack the AA trucks, instead of the supply trucks. Attack tank convoys, they attack the escorting light tanks/halftrucks instead of the heavy/medium tanks. Attack river crossing, they usually attack AAA with bombs then strafe the tanks. The target, which should get destroy according to the briefing is the makeshift bridge. Attack troop concentration area, they attack the AAA with the bombs, then strafe the tanks. Attack airfields, they attack the AAA, if you don't attack the four bombers and the trucks positioned close to them, one of your squadmates will also attack that target, but they don't attack one of the other parked aircrafts. The only exception is attack artillery unit. In this mission the squadmates attack the artillery guns. Two or three years ago this was changed after I complained about it and the AI attack really the targets, the briefing tells you to destroy. Apart from other issues ground attack has, it was an absolute pleasure to fly these missions. But they changed it back to how it was before and is now. I have no idea for what reason. Maybe it was too realistic. Another thing, which doesn't make sense is the diving down 5-10 km before reaching the target and then climbing back to altitude, when reaching the target, so you slow down, when in reach of the AA defense and get an easy target for them. And of course circling over the target for a certain time before flying back to your base. What is missing, and was in the missions earlier, is a command of the flightleader to stop the groundattack and RTB. 1 2

I just hope we'll see fixes coming soon. This behaviour really ruins career mode for ground attackers and well... most careers have ground attack scenarios. (sorry to tag you rapidus)

First, in attack frontline troops, the AI, like in artillery attacks, does its job and attacks the two tanks in fortified positions, first. Second, on the first day of the Moscow career for the Bf 110 E2 and a few days later, you fly a groundattack mission with a low hanging closed cloudlayer and rain. Once you reach the target, the AI climbs into the clouds, flies a circle and dives at the target, without any chance to see the target, as you can only see about 100m and there is absolutely no view to the ground. This is completely unrealistic and should be changed. You would stay below the clouds, to see where you have to attack.

We would need an AI that can actually take clouds presence into account and mission flight points heights being also generated to keep the metereological conditions in mind, several time I had my plane formations fly through dense clouds because the standard pathway altitude ended up intersecting with the day's cloud cover height 1
