This Saturday is the last Dry Run before hostilities begin.

Some changes

1. F2 functionality will be removed. It was accidently on in the first dry-run.
2. The commander tank is a resource drain. It has been removed. Right now, all flags are pure capture.
3. We added new aircraft for people without Bodenplatte: the Bf 109F-4 (BOS) and the Yak-1 series 69 (BOS)
4. Because Red team has few people in tanks, air and ground battle-zones will now be restricted to just one sector at a time.  Once a sector is captured by a team, the game will select another sector to open.  It will keep doing this until all sectors have been claimed.  This can be changed back in the future.
5. We added an extra wooden bridge in the Northern sector to allow crossing if the stone bridge is destroyed.
6. Despite the request, we will not add the free tanks.  There are too many bugs.
7. I've added a Blue Team section to JG1's TS.  Everyone recheck your whispers!
8. Tank spawn defenses have been widened.
9. This will be Dead is Dead for pilots. This will give us info on plane numbers.

TIF is a "dead-is-dead" style event for aircraft. This means that each player will only have one life per night as a pilot. If a player's pilot is killed or captured, they are done as a pilot for the rest of the night.  However, all participants will have unlimited lives as tankers and tail gunners.

PARIS / LONDON--ALLIED FORCES ADVANCE ACROSS A BROAD FRONT, PUSHING BACK AXIS LINES FURTHER INTO GERMANY.  AXIS FORCES APPEAR TO BE IN DISARRAY, AS MANY PANZER UNITS ARE OUTFLANKED BY ADVANCING U.S. AND BRITISH ARMOR.

BRITISH BOMBERS HAVE STARTED DROPPING LEAFLETS ON THE GERMAN-CONTROLLED CITIES OF ENSCHEDE AND HENGELO, AS WELL AS THE TOWNS OF BORKEN AND DORSTEN TO AFFECT GERMAN MORALE.  DETAILS INCLUDE THE HUMANE CONDITIONS OF ALLIED PRISONER OF WAR CAMPS, AS WELL AS GENERAL SURRENDER NOTICES.

PARIS / LONDON--ALLIED FORCES ADVANCE IN THE SOUTHERN SECTOR, ATTEMPTING TO LINK UP WITH U.S. AND BRITISH ARMOR WEST OF THE TOWN OF BORKEN.  HOWEVER, A SUDDEN AXIS OFFENSIVE IN THE CENTER PUSHES SOME ALLIED ARMOR BACK AND SLOWS THE PUSH EAST.

ALLIED AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE REPORT GERMAN REINFORCEMENTS AND SUPPLY CENTERS NEAR THE TOWN OF DORSTEN HAVE BEGUN TO RETREAT EAST TO NEW DEFENSIVE LINES WEST OF DORTMUND.

Congratulations to both the Blue Team and the Red Team for their outstanding performances over the last 8 weeks!  Thank you so much for sharing the inaugural Tanks In Flames event with us!  Flying and tanking with you all was a tremendous amount of fun, and both @JG1_Butzzell and I hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.

 

As mission designers and event administrators, we learned a lot of lessons in both Phase A and Phase B of the Spring Campaign.  We're hoping to use this new information to bring improvements to the whole TIF concept.  The goal is to not only give TIF more advanced gameplay but also to make the overall tournament more interesting to a wider audience.  Specifically, we're going to take a serious look at the air war and how we can better integrate it into the ground conflict.  As we start our Summer break, we hope to have more information for you soon. Keep checking back!

 

Now, onto the results:

 

With a stunning offensive in Phase B that I think General Patton would be proud of, the Blue Team has secured enough points to win the overall Spring Campaign.  You guys definitely brought your "A Game", both in the air and on the ground.  And I know that the Red Team can't wait to have the chance to meet you again on the virtual battlefield.
