Could have events where one or two players are hunting in aircraft so that part of the skill of the drivers is evasion along with speed.

You can't really evade an aircraft with a truck, even a 80mph truck, let alone a 40mph truck. From the perspective of the aircraft it's hardly moving.

Unless you're ducking behind buildings I guess

Yea, evasion as in use of tree lines, forests and route planning rather than trying to out run or dodge their fire. Imagine something on Kuban with the tree lines along the field edges etc.

Yeah that could be fun. :)

I gotta say, I'm quite impressed by the level of detail on the GAZ. Looking through the screenshots it seems that even the odometer is functional!

Yep, the odometers are functional in the tanks. ?

Yeah it's really sweet to know I just murdered my crew on a invisible tree at 40kph ?

The unique audio and more detailed tech of the tires visualization and deformation are icing on the cake

Do I smell some tech that can make its way into aircrafts later???

The images of the GAZ-MM 72 look amazing. I literally cannot wait to drive it! ?

BTW, will there be WIP images of Drop Tanks next week? Have been patiently waiting for 3 and a half years for them to be in this game

:salute:

Autobahn, power lines, possibly road network would be nice addition!

Thanks for constant improvements!

Just imagining taxiing from a hidden mesh tent onto the autobahn is the start to a truly awesome mission.

Not to mention hunting for those tents as a ground attack aircraft.

Does crew of the GAZ-MM obey law of inertia and are moving forward when truck stops abruptly or they bounce on bumpy terrain?

I get the feeling some folks here want a full real everything life simulator.

Of course they will be the first ones to bitch when it won't run on their 10 year old laptop...

You're kidding....?! ?

No I'm not , it's already there in TC when one of the tank crew open the hatch to be partially out of the tank. Static, concrete crews spoils whole dynamic picture and immersion of the game no matter how good the models look. Good animations are the key and static crew looks good only on pictures. Imagine suspension is moving, trailer moves/swings, tires  interact with the ground,  and there are  crew in  the open in one frozen possition but they are not monuments of Lenin they are Russian soldiers.

To contrary most people here are very realistic in terms of what could be done but devs have limited resources. This is not about lack of computation power for better animations triggered by allready calculated physics, more poly in the objects or more realistic looking special effects. You should know allready where are true computation bottlencks in this game.

Driving around in a thin skinned truck in a combat flight simulator doesn't sound like much fun to me.. but I do LOVE strafing things in my Anton and Duck so... the more targets the merrier!

I hope the devs are including a fire extinguisher and flame retardant suits as standard kit in that thing, yall are gonna need it ?

:) I have driven a mission like that in '46 with the DangerDogz....two of us in jeeps drove from an airfield and had to get to a finish point beyond a town before the roving CR42s got us. Great fun ducking and diving, dodging and weaving. There was a point where, I think with a mod, it was possible to have someone on the .50 cal too...

Very impressed with the collector vehicle:good: Seriously looking forward to seeing it in action. Appreciate the map updates. Thanks!

Very impressed! Those picture made me buy it!

Hope for some cargo loadout like the Junkers 52.

Those railyards will be nice juicy targets for Typhoons.

I'm late to this party, but thanks so much for the improved railways in Bodenplatte - would love for more unique details to lend life to this map and these really stand out - when it was first mentioned, I didn't realise how unique you'd be able to make each one look

Hi, i looked at the pictures of the new items for the Bodenplatte map and its nicely done so far.

But I would also recommend to correct some things on the Bodenplatte map.

1. Frankfurt Rhein-Main airfield, is wrong located and has the wrong shape.

Rhein-Main opened in 1936 and was located, where it is today.

The today's southern runway is on the same location as in the past, only way shorter back then.

Attached is a aerial picture from 1945 made by the Americans, somewhen between Jan 45 - April 45.

There you can also see the right location at the Frarankfurter crossing between A3 and A5

A5 is north to south, A3 is west to east. So this picture shows, up to the north.

2. Giessen is named Giesen on your map, which is not right. There are two possibilities

to write the name of this town. Giessen, which is common today or Gießen which was mostly used back then.

But since the ISO alphabet does not implement the German double S ( ß ) it has to be written Giessen with two S instead.

Cheers

Wolfgang

I have to agree with wollie12 in his notes about Frankfurt above. I myself noted that the map is missing Hanau where I was stationed for over 4 years while serving in the 3rd AD. It should be just along the river to the SW just before going off map. I've only flown this area a couple of times as it is close to the map border and invariably dogfights end up off map with those glaring messages about being out of bounds.

It would be cool if the southern boundary could be extended further south as this would allow Fliegerhorst AF to be included which had some Luftwaffe fighter units flying out of it and there was an "urban legend" or should I say military scuttlebutt, that there are still 109s in an underground hangar there that the Allies flooded after the war to avoid the hassle of disposing of unexpended ordnance in the underground bunkers. Heard about that from some ground crew when I was participating in some chopper recons of the 1K zone originating from Fliegerhorst. Supposedly you could still see them through some floor hatch in one of the hangars, though I have my doubts about this story.....

Not sure if anyone has suggested a detailed modeling of the Phillips factory in Eindhoven. Would make a great low level mission. Operation Oyster in December of 1942. We already have the Havoc and the Mosquito is coming. Low level navigation with detailed cities and landmarks in the Southern Netherlands should be pretty realistic.
