FYI:

 

Skin: "B26B55_PUGNACIOUS_PEGGY.dds" is currently listed under Ar234B2 is HSD and downloads to the "ar234b2" skins folder.

Thanks for the heads-up. I have removed it and informed the artist that he can reupload it to HSD.

Update V1.2.2.10 (Signing certificate renewal) has been released!

 

This update only renews the Signing certificate for HSD.

No other HSD updates are included. You will have to wait for that a bit longer.

What exactly happens when you try to run it? Any messages? Does it show the splash form or main form at all?
Please attach your HSD.log file to your response.

The code signing certificate was renewed with the latest update, check that your AV isn't preventing it from running by whitelisting HSD.exe

Any improvements on performance planned or maybe even warnings when clicking on things results in the program recalculating the location of god?
I had to force kill it once already
So I had to delete the .db 
Because it was say the skin location was invalid when I restarted

It shouldn't take more than around 10 minutes for HSD to complete its first startup. A common issue is that HSD.exe is copied to a folder where it doesn't have write permissions, for example the Program Files folder. Is your game/skins folder on a SSD drive? If you are still having issues, please again delete the HSD.db file, let HSD.exe run for 10 minutes, and attach the HSD.log file  to your reply.

Yea I had the HSD folder inside the IL2 skins folder that I have symlinked onto a hdd which was dumb
its a lot happier running in the documents folder of my user on ssd
also I was impressed it successfully incorporated all the skins from my old install that I copy pasted

Just finished up No.131 PR.MkVII Spitfire skin for the Mk.IXe. I'll give this try. I need to take some screen shots first. As soon as I buy BoN, I'm going to work on Operation Overlord skins.

 

 

(don't worry the plane looks much better in person)

HSD checks if your skin folder is called "skins". Otherwise it assumes the folder is incorrect. This is done to avoid accidentally selecting the "graphics" folder. We found this to be an easily made error so we put a fail save in place.

It appears that there is a bug with the "install" screen as that should also force you to select a folder called "skins". We will fix this bug.

 

I suggest you make a new folder "D:\IL-2 Skins\skins" or "D:\skins". That will resolve the issue.

What version are we up to? I have v.1.2.2.10 currently, the zip (from Page1) is just "HSD.zip" dated (once unzipped) 10-31-21 so I assume i'm up to date but maybe consider changing the zip files name to HSD_xx-xx-xx.zip (the date) for the next release.  Thank you!!

You are up to date. Also, we feel there is no need to include a version number in the .zip file. If we change the name of the .zip, we would have to update the link each time as well and we prefer not to give ourselves extra work.

 

But more importantly, HSD has a build in update feature ensuring you will always have the latest version. Even if you install an early version, HSD will instantly call for an update so you get the latest version right away. This also means you don't have manually download a new version when we do bring out an update. HSD will tell you about it and install it right away!

You can manually ignore an update, in which case an update button will appear in the top right. No update button means you are indeed on the latest version.

 

I hope that clears it up.

Would it be possible to add filtering skins by nationality? Would be particularly useful with some of the more common lend lease planes if you're looking for particular stuff

The  selection tree does not seem to be working any longer for me, it is just always showing 5 planes for which there were skin updates, even after updating.

 

I am a big fan of HSD and I have been using regulary with no issue till today.

I have a tricky question: 

 

I want to make a skin of a vehicle from a museum. It has been repainted since it was first taken into the museum back in the days, but was repainted to look realistic to how it might have been when it was taken back in the war. Would this be a historical skin or a fictional one? It does exist in this color scheme, and likely a similar one had existed back then, but just not exactly like this at the time that we play in the game (1940s).

Good questions, I would actually wait for it. We are intending to add a new category to HSD which bridges the gap between Historical and Fictional for such skins. And these 2 would fit that category perfectly. Not sure when this update will come, but it's in testing now so shouldn't be months.

 

If you really want to upload them now, then I would suggest uploading both as fictional and request them to be updated to the new category after the udpate.

At the moment the procedure for updating one of your skins is to request the old skin to be deleted in our Discord. However, we are currently testing a new version where you'll be able to delete & replace your skins without needing to use our Discord.

Happy to hear you now have the skins showing up in game sorted.

 

The JJ A is a bit odd. Can you send a picture? 
My first thought is that it may be the tactical codes? Make sure those are removed when using a custom skin.
