Using a ship in the editor and to apply a level of damage/destruction¿?

How can I use a ship in the editor and apply a level of damage or total destruction to it so that at the start of the mission it appears in port but destroyed?

So far I have used smoke and such, but is there any way to convert an object and use it as destroyed?

I also can't reduce its height from the ground to show it semi-sunken in port.

Perhaps none of this can be done satisfactorily. The two guides I've read don't say anything about how to achieve this.

Thanks in advance

See "Damage or Repair an Object During a Mission" on pg. 133 of the editor manual.

Regarding height, you can try adjusting the Y parameter in the Object Properties for the ship, but I'm not positive it will work.

If you apply "complete" damage 3 seconds after mission start (the normal),  deselect "delete after death' in the Properties dialogue, and put the ship half on the shore or even in shallow water it will work. Like this...

You will get this...

The fire will go out after about 2 minutes, but you could add house smoke and small fire effects and make it keep burning indefinitely. I would put a timer on the fire for about 10 minutes and then keep the smoke.

If you put it in deep water, it will sink obviously.
