I had another go at doing this skin. This time for the Fw190 A-8.  I did the Green 2 and Red 2 versions.

I have to give huge credit to all responsible for making and freely allowing access to the templates so that we can splash paint on them and have fun being creative. Thank You! :drinks:

You have actually raised an interesting point.

From looking at the panel lines on the template it looked like the top cover was a one piece construction as shown below. It therefore didn't make sense to paint across it as servicing and lifting the cover would break the paint and cause flaking. I chose to go around and follow the panel line.

However on checking online and looking at models there appears to be an error in the template as there is a separate panel. Is this a locking plate lest the cover is blown open or maybe to make more room for engine removal, another access panel for servicing? This explains why it is usually shown as being over-painted which I always found odd.

Now that you have drawn my attention to it I will simply amend the template by filling in the missing panel line in the future.

I am still toying with the idea of redoing the skin as it has suffered from being overworked. I spent 2 days trying out different paint tones and camo patterns doing a dozen skins before settling on this one however I think it might be improved by starting from scratch thereby tidying it up and also I think that I made the wing zebra pattern too small. The question is always of being sucked into overworking something or moving onto something new. I do really like the Fw190 though and I really like the detail Claes Sundin has put into interpreting the original photograph of which I was only able to find one other.

Looking at the skin again I actually think it looks more interesting with the cutout for the top panel rather than a barrel around the fuselage so I may not change that aspect anyway other than to show the correct panel lines. Maybe one of each just like the red and green... :popcorm:

I like these SG 2 Fw 190 F-8 ?

May I suggest to remove the wheels doors, as seen on your photograph ?

I'm doing a reworked version just now with a sharpened up fuselage and also improved wing camo pattern, an included oil cooler access panel and now that you pointed out the wheel covers I will remove them.

Thanks for the heads up.  At some point I will revisit the 190A skins and fix this.

Hi ICDP,
I take the liberty of a hint about the new Fw190A-6 (a missing dent on the surface of the wing / present when installing MG151/20 - see screenshots). ?

No need to add it. It even says it in the keypoint in marked sentence:

Quote

"Die typische zusätzliche Erhebung auf der Tragflügeloberseite, die beim Einbau einer Mk 108 erforderlich wurde, ist hier nicht erkennbar."

"The typical additional elevation on the top of the wing that was required when a Mk 108 was installed is not recognizable here."

Since the A6 never recieved the Mk 108 as a standard armament there is no need to add this dent to the wing. That's why the A8 has it and the A6 don't.

Hi 6FG_Big_Al ,

you absolutely hate right (was still mentally on the 151/20 and not on the 108)! Sorry, lack of concentration (shame on me and ashes on my head) !!! Thanks for paying attention ?

Here is the amended version with the points mentioned. I am also looking to add a light blue and grey version which is very common going by the profiles in Claes Sundin's bookazine which I like. Also I remember seeing a tan and brown version somewhere that would make a nice summer skin.

Colour tone slipped a bit here but it's a good pic for showing the wing pattern I went for that is more consistent with the fuselage pattern. I also gave at least a nod to the often seen line pattern style on the tail plane and gun cowling.

Had to update link as I missed removing the inner part of the wheel cover (see hanger photo) ... :fool::acute:

Now I see that the one in the photo is different. I took a hacksaw to it so as not to disrupt the airflow any more than I had to while the lazy dummkopf ground crew erk just took the whole unit off. I blame that one on spending ten years rebuilding a Spitfire. Triumph Spitfire that is...

Will these skins be available on HSD?

According to the latest research by Eduard, the numbers and cowling were blue, not red: https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/photos/pcb.4528343883847190/4528341790514066/

Brian Bateman Art: Blue numbers? Thought these were red…

Eduard Model Accessories: we were surprised to find it out too. We worked with loss records of SG units in Hungary during winter 44/45. Long story short: Stab I./SG 2 = blue numerals; Stab II./SG 2 green numerals; Stab I./SG 10 used letters. It seems red color for this Stab I./SG 2 machine is frequently repeated myth. JanB
