I am probably one of the luckiest guys in here.

I wanted a new 3090 GPU - wife, absolutely you deserve it order it now.

I wanted the new VKB Ultimate Grip - ditto

I wanted the new Virpil CM3 Throttle - ditto.

I wanted a racing wheel and pedal setup - ditto.

And the new Reverb G2 - yep ditto.

 

All of this within like three months of each other...

I’m right there with you, @dburne - only in my case it was a 3090 GPU, a Reverb G2, and a set of Slaw pedals within 6 weeks of each other. And she even paid for the 3090!

 

But I support and help with her hobbies, and we are child-free and in our 50’s, so life is good ?

LOL - I went years traveling for my work, leave out on Monday morning and get home on Thursday evening.

Now that I am retired,  I am with my wife 24/7. She works remotely from home.

Thankfully we still get along very well.

I live in the UK & I used to have a Bertone X1/9. Despite living in the UK, they were built for America & their safety requirements, so it wasn't as quick as it should have been due to extra weight. However it was built so occupants could survive an 80mph crash.

 

However, one mod was to install 2.0 Lancia engine so it then performed like it should.

 

Friends asked why I didn't get a MR2, which would have been a MK1 at the time, but after looking, they were too luxurious, I prefer a sports car to be rough & basic.

 

Then got rid of it for a Citroen AX GT.

 

Those were the days, no air bags, abs, traction control, etc. &  driving was a skill. Now-a-days people rely too much on the safety gizmos hoping they will get them out of trouble. Which they don't always do.

 

Enjoy your classic, it was from a proper drivers period.

Car not running right? Good luck, and hope it's throwing a code. If not, good luck figuring out that it's the damn crank sensor or some crap causing the engine to stop.

 

25 years from now having a drivable "classic" 2020 Charger"  as an example will be next to impossible due to this factor.

Of course going anywhere assumes your papers are in order for the checkpoints etc, and who wants to hassle with that anyway.

My summer ride is a 1960 Triumph TR3.  No radio, no heater, no gizmos.  The only thing electronic is the radiator fan, fuel pump to feed the pair of 40 DCOE Weber carbs, and an optical ignition, because the big bore kit with higher compression pistons need more accurate timing.

 

Been driving the old girl for 40 years.  I believe you youngsters would call it my Waifu.
