104th_IronMike Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) The AI in the own platoon lags far behind the player - without exceptions. This results in a lot of waiting around for the AI. Ideally the AI should maintain the player's speed, and speed up to catch up to hold position. This has a negative impact on formation movement, as well as obstacle clearance. The formation colum on road does not seem to work properly either. The AI will still try to cut straight to the player, instead of sticking to the road. Combined with the lagging speed, this means that if a road bends around some houses, for example, the AI will just drive straight into the houses and get stuck. Obstacle clearing works so/so, more often it doesn't than it does. The worst I have seen, where an AI of my platoon tried to clear a barbwire lengthwise - the entire length of the barbwire obstacle, destroying it bit by bit. instead of just crossing it and continueing alongside of it. I didnt know if I should laugh or scream, haha, it took 20 minutes with 8x speed, and I waited because it was at the very end of a long mission that I didn't want to restart. It wiggled back and forth while doing it, it looked like the AI had a personal gripe with that barbwire, which was btw more than half a kilometer long lol. I pray I have never to sit through that again. ? I think if the AI kept up with the player better, it would allow us to drive more foreseeingly, helping the AI to avoid obstacles, and it would also help to hold tactical formations during battle. By the time the AI arrives, either I have killed all tanks on my own (expending more ammo than necessary), or I take most of the hits and have to repair and lose my AI due to engine shutdown. vayte Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 I would like to emphasize the FORMATION COLUMN ON ROAD. It does not work for AI that is linked to the player. They seem to treat it the same as column off road. This leads to delays when the player is using a road and practically guaranties mayhem when entering a village. Also when the order STOP AND HOLD POSITION is given to the AI, they still turn in the direction of the player when the player is moving. This often leads to them turning their sidearmor to the enemy and dying. If these Formations would be fixed it would lead to a significant improvement. 1
