#10019: Unable to connect to game server...... :)

Hi Everyone, hoping someone can help....

I've set up a server on GCP, got everything working, can see the server in the game/multiplayer list, but still get this error.

I've done port forwarding and firewall rules on router, in server and PC... dserver is logged in and loaded the various files and folders I've tested. from the Stalingrad bots in the test folder, the dogfight complex example, and a burning_steppe one I downloaded from the forums. Have spent days trying to get this working.

I see a few posts saying (as the instructions do) that you need the files in the same place, on PC and Server, but mine are:

PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight

Server:
C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight

line 54 in the .sds file is:                   file = "Multiplayer/Dogfight/stalingrad_nov_1942_bots"

when I change this to                              file = "Multiplayer\Dogfight\stalingrad_nov_1942_bots"

it  doesn't load the mission?

!!! ERROR: Mission not found
!!! ERROR: COULDN'T LOAD MISSION Multiplayer/Multiplayer\Dogfight\stalingrad_nov_1942_bots

I can't create the same folder in the server as is in the PC as program files is restricted? is this the problem?

Thank you... once again!

Hi KEVLAGNU,

Try to remove the "Multiplayer/" string. Use only "Dogfight\stalingrad_nov_1942_bots" and it should work.

A "Dogfight" type mission must be in your game directory under folder Multiplayer/Dogfight or a subfolder of that. The .list file of your mission tells you exactly where to place your mission on the server. If you cannot create a subfolder of Multiplayer/Dogfight on the server, you must resave your mission under Multiplayer/Dogfight.

I'm not sure how you got the forward slashes in your file path in .sds line 54; mine are backslashes. It's probably a good idea to specify the mission name and location in the DServer GUI interface and save it, which will generate the proper path.

In the meantime, see Error Message "!!! ERROR: COULDN'T LOAD MISSION" for Multiplayer Mission on pg. 184 of the editor manual.

Thank you, both!  got confused with all the modifying of files, so I started again -  I've re-installed the game and still struggling. I can't get past this folder structure weirdness/figure out what I need to do.

I'm also running out of patience, I can't afford to keep taking time away from work to work on this. Is there any way I can pay for telephone support, to help get this sorted? I'll pay whatever anyone wants - if you can help us out....

Edit - when running Dserver I still can't get rid of this file path with forward and backslashes

"Loading mission 'Multiplayer/Dogfight\Examples_dogfight - Copy\Dogfight_Complex_Example.mission' (Multiplayer/Dogfight\Examples_dogfight - Copy\Dogfight_Complex_Example)..."

but the actual folder structure =

PC = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\Examples_dogfight - Copy

Server = C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\Examples_dogfight - Copy

any idea why dserver is using the path with /'s
??

I've opened up the .sds file in notepad++ and it says -  file = "Dogfight\Examples_dogfight - Copy\Dogfight_Complex_Example"

so this is correct- it is just when opening that file with dserver it somehow add /'s?

£100 to anyone who can spend 1/2 hour or so helping me get this sorted? :) anyone have discord & feel like they can help talk me through it - have £100 in paypal ready to go...
