Bearcat Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Note that this has been addressed almost four hours ago. We got this Jason.. I know you have more important things to do that police a bunch of grown men acting like kids on a road trip... No worries....
Uufflakke Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Found some Bf109 Daimler Benz sounds including fly-by sounds for those that are interested. http://www.soundrangers.com/index.cfm?currentpage=3&fuseaction=category.display&category_id=335 http://www.freesound.org/browse/tags/Bf-109/
Feathered_IV Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I would agree a non fly able ju52 would be a solution. But I promise there is someone out there that wants to run the gauntlet in an unarmed transport. Ah, that would be me. Particularly if the aircraft can be overloaded past its recommended saftey limits, and especially if the airfield is slippery when I get there. 4

FlatSpinMan Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Well, it should be perfectly clear now that any old enmities are unwelcome here, whoever, whenever. It's been nice and peaceful here and it will remain so.
Dutch Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) No, no, me old chums. phillip.ed really is an old pal of mine. He's a mine of information when it comes to second world war memorabilia. And he did a really nice mod for IL2. Bullet smoke trails I think. Love the man to bits. However I also love Soren/Freycinet, so all is good. Edited June 16, 2013 by Dutch

smink1701 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Just been marveling at the latest vid. Really great sound and the plane is something special too. And all wip. Like it was shot at an airshow
TJT Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Thats very impressive for an alpha, both visuals and audio. Edited June 16, 2013 by TJT
falstaff Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) The various sights and sounds on display are very impressive... ...the game too Bearing in mind the sound palette needs to cater for el cheapo speakers as well as upmarket systems, I think it sounds very good. We used to live not far from various airfields, and it's a real art getting the compression of approaching and departing sounds right, never mind all the different audio bands. In a game, it must be as much art as science gettin git right, especially since audio is often neglected part of games/sims. ANyone else remember back in the day having a Roland LAPC-1/32 module running alongside a Sound Blaster in Red Baron? LOD also looks very impressive. Edited June 16, 2013 by falstaff
senseispcc Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 It is true that the sound is wonderful and maybe more difficult to render perfectly than the graphic part of the game! I say great job. Single missions are my game and some very rare coop multi-player with friends against the computer. You shall all say there is no challenge in this but it is fun. And we can enjoy some bomber missions also in this mode. I am afraid of "cloud" type of storage of your profile or game, missions, etc. Because we are at the mercy of the miss management of the data. But I am happy with the ROF type of game where your profile is yours, on your pc, but also stored for the most important parts in the 777 server. Most of my experience with internet based games were very bad so I have maybe a biased opinion? 2
AA_Engadin Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I respect your opinion, but detest your conceited sense of self- authority. You sound like the child in class who would remind the teacher to set them homework. Whilst drip-feeding has merits, the points your bring up are easily refutable. Discussions about field-colours, hedge rows etc are clearly constructive. In the same way errors were highlighted in the 109 cockpit, similar errors can be highlighted in other areas of the sim. The dev team are not stupid, and your post hints at a perception that they are not aware of how to deal with the community. This team has a lot of community experience, and they know that anything they post will get scrutinised and potentially criticised. When such criticism is constructive it will help the game expand and develop for the better. The sim's novelty will most certainly not wear off. In such a niche market, the audience of sim-enthusiasts will relatively remain fixed. Dev updates bring more members in and actually expand the target market. +1 here, philiped. AA_Engadin
heinkill Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 nice update thanks. the single player online concept sounds a lot like ROF today, though I hope we will get something like an advanced beta career mode in there. randomly generated missions will make for great reflyability but I always worry about mission or campaign designs that require a player to achieve victory conditions before they can advance in the campaign - very hard to scale these to all players to avoid them being either too hard victory conditions, or too easy. much better to let the player advance to next mission or refly it by their own choice, and then just award them a score or points or kills depending on whether they succeeded in the mission. call of duty style scenarios where you have to kill a particular tank, or down a particular bomber(s) give me the irrits because they are so non immersive - 'sorry sir, you didnt get that heinkel, would you mind going back up there and seeing if you can get it again, or we will never get our dinner.' please please please dont go that way. 4

Bravo! Same opinion here! Good example are the campaigns of the Desastersoft addons for CloD. There you need a certain number of won missions to win the whole campaign. But if you don`t succeed in single missions of the campaign you can always choose to refly the mission or to go on to the next mission. 1
71st_AH_Hooves Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I saw/heard a wwII bird fly over my house today taking off from the local air port. And while it didn't have the rumble of this 109. The sound after it passed over sounded incredibly similar to what we hear in that video. I just gotta big smile on my face and thought. "This is going to be awesome!" Good wrk 1CGS 2
II./ZG2_Gaga Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 (edited) I heard the sound and yelled "Oh my God!!" while shlightly ducking involuntarily .. You have succeeded in my book! I trust the artists of this project. They have prooven to have an exquisite taste & skils creating the corect "atmosphere" in the best possible maner. RoF has prooven that. I simply can't wait for the 1st release! Edited June 17, 2013 by Gagatronic
5./JG54_Eman Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Wow amazing! I really like the new concept of campaign and missions. Every single mission is unique that is really good! It will make the missions much more realistic, otherwise players would know where were their targets. Can't wait to see you guys releasing the game =)
AX2 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Thanks for the update. The LOD an the sound are amazing! Great job ! .

Agreed, the "you must finish this level first befor proceeding" feeling is better left in other types of entertainment.
I/JG27_Rollo Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) Agreed as well. If you guys plan to include such a feature please make it optional. Beyond surviving and not getting captured, any artificial mission objective that prevents you from progressing in a career is less than desirable to me - and many others as it seems. BTW: in Red Baron II there was a chance that a pilot who bailed out or crashlanded behind enemy lines would escape and rejoin his unit after a certain period of time. Just putting that out there... SYN_Haashashin Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 BTW: in Red Baron II there was a chance that a pilot who bailed out or crashlanded behind enemy lines would escape and rejoin his unit after a certain period of time. Just putting that out there... Hi Rollo, This is also possible in RoF now, dont know how the % of been capture or escape is set, but certainly is there, so my guess is that it will be the same or similar in BoS. About how many days pass between escaping and rejoining your unit, I really dont know, you should ask a RoF SP player . 100% MP here.
I/JG27_Rollo Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Thanks Haashashin, I wasn't aware of it being in ROF as well. I rarely find the time to play it and so far I always could at least sail into friendly territory. Well I agree that this means that it's probably going to be in BoS.
buster_dee Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) I just wanted to mention that, though I prefer that certain nuaces of the DB sound a little different (and I agree: subjective on my part), what struck me is how varied and rich the sound is, and how smoothly it transitions (I would risk saying seamless). The LOD transitions seem well up to par with the sound transitions as well. Also, the game sample seems to be at or near compat power. I'm guessing that airshow pilots would push those rare engines less. This is pure speculation, but different RPM/Power settings might axplain a fair bit of the different between how we think DBs ought to sound, and how the developer's sound engineer implemented it. I very much like what has been accomplished so far. Edited June 19, 2013 by buster2
hiro Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 thanks for the update; this one was a big one with details. I like what's going on. And the video!!! Everyone was craving video, and now we have it. Thanks again. It's a mini christmas y'all some points . . . doesn't sound cessna ish . . . believe me I hang out with them enough .. . speedy and shady and DQ HQ (dairy queen / hanger queen cuz someone spilled some shake / ice cream and the stain is there and plus she always has some issue) and the rest will appreciate the 109 reference and honor as being put in 109 status, but alas. Not close no cigar. Yes the sound can be worked on but that's what alphas are for. Keep up the good work In regarding to the online thing . . . I know network needs to be used to update it. But I'm sure thousands would like just to fire up and play w/out internet. And its inconceivable that a household isn't online this day and age, BUT sometimes things come up where one can't be online all the time. delivery truck took out cable server, kids in up apt 9999 damaged the tub and water spilled and shorted out the building's network room power box . .. and the ever present DRM issue . . . Maybe do it like software . . . have the ability to toggle to download mission / campaign updates when I want to, and not require internet just to play. So in the cases where internets is not available, we can play. And also the devs might consider using places like Mission 4 Today to spread out the mission updates . . . anyways thanks again. HOpe fully the devs will have 2nd game with more options and JU-88 . . . I can understand limiting things out so release is working 100% with the limited plane set / mission / online options . . . also there is alot of angst in some of the posts . . . its hard to let go of yesterday (CLOD) . . . but we have to. Its coming along fine.
