=TF=bintynz Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Hi all, I've tried finding this issue in the forums and done what little trouble shooting I can myself on this - I sincerely apologise if I've missed the answer to my problem! My problem is that I can't create the game server within IL2 to play the mission I have just created in PWCG. I have created a campaign in PWCG, ensured I've accurately entered the aircraft I have in the settings (all vanilla OEM aircraft that come with each game), and made sure the map the campaign is using is one I have. In this case I have a coop campaign for 66 Sqn in the Spitfire IXe using Bodenplate map. I have ensured that I (and my friend when we've tried to coop this) are both added as coop players and are both selected for the mission. After going through the various youtube tutorials I feel like I've covered off everything in the PWCG set-up that's required... So I Alt+TAB into IL2 and go into multiplayer - cooperative. I then create a server and can see the PWCG mission available to add to the rotation. After I add it to the rotation I try to create the server. I go to a loading screen just like the tutorials but after the progress bar is done I'm just kicked straight back to the multiplayer 'Cooperative or Dogfight' option screen. The 'select user' / 'ready' screen doesn't appear! I've tried creating a couple of different campaigns using different aircraft and confirming the aircraft and maps are ones I own but same result each time. My friend has done the same thing and we've been able to get it to work from his end as host. Is this something really simple that I'm overlooking? Driving me crazy. Again I sincerely apologise if this is the case! A MASSIVE thanks to the guy(s) and girl(s) that have made this work - it's taken my friend and I quite some time to figure out the vagaries of making coop work in IL2 but this program and the tutorials are amazing - thanks again. Edit - I notice that despite my IL2 home screen having BOBP as one of the 'red bars' under the title, I can't select the Bodenplate map for a quick mission and my little avatar on this post doesn't have a BOBP 'ribbon' below it... this may be a problem; is there something I need to do to 'link' my purchase with the game?? I have flown the Bodenplate map in my friend's PWCG-generated coop campaign so figure this is a red herring (albeit a confusing one for a novice like me!). Edited February 10, 2021 by bintynz
PatrickAWlson Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 The game doesn't think you own BoBP. Not being able to access the BoBP map in QMB is a giveaway. You are allowed to fly the BoBP map in multiplayer, so if your friend makes the mission and he owns BoBP all is well. However, you cannot use the map in single player nor can you fly the BoBP planes, so I'm guessing that even if you can get on the mission you will not be allowed to enter a Spitfire Mk IX. If you have actually bought BoBP (your bars say that you have not but maybe you purchased BoBP through Steam?) then contact the administrators. 1
=TF=bintynz Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 (edited) Ok, that confirms what I'd started thinking and is very helpful. Not sure why the game itself recognises that I've purchased it but this doesn't? I'll dig into that and try and get it sorted. (I did purchase it through steam - yeah I know......) Extremely grateful for the [quick] response. Legend... Edited February 10, 2021 by bintynz

=TF=bintynz Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 In the event someone else has the same problem and finds this thread I'll note my [simple] solution. After confirming I actually did have everything loaded into the game (assumed the map would be called 'Bodenplatte' not 'Rhineland') I found that there was a specific IP address entered into my multiplayer settings. Once I deleted that and just re-set the default settings (that box is empty) it started the server up... Still no answer as to why I don't have a BOBP ribbon beside my name here but maybe you have to actually fly a Bodenplatte mission before this recognises you have it or something? Thanks to those that dived in to help out - when in doubt check all your settings again! : ) 1

I thought that box had to have the host's IP address in order for another player to connect to the host? (I could definitely be wrong because I haven't done much hosting of Coop, but I do have that box filled in). @Hetzer-JG51 may be able to provide insight based on his recent Coop experience here. 1
=TF=bintynz Posted February 11, 2021 Author Posted February 11, 2021 I was intending to host for another player. Having that box filled in with an [incorrect?] IP didn't even let the server load as per my initial report. Once I cleared that box the server loaded and I got to the 'select user' screen ready to start the mission. Now my friend wasn't online so I didn't actually take the next step and commence the game with both of us in there so I can't absolutely confirm it's all working, but I'm assuming it would have worked. To be clear, I had an IP address in the 'use IP' box that I deleted. There are still IP addresses that have defaulted in the 'available IP addresses' box and I haven't touched them. Thanks for solving the issue with the ribbons/badges - I hadn't seen that forum. 1

It would have worked, the net connection is handled entirely by the game's default settings (it finds your IP automatically). You should set a password unless you're ok with randoms joining (not that they'd be able to fly a plane). 1
